4.0 out of 5 stars Unbiased and very interesting, Feb 24 2008
I am not a Tom Cruise or a Scientology fan and did not know too much about either topic, which is partly why I wanted to read this book.
I also wanted to read it due to the contoversy surrounding it and also the very fact that as an ex Brit, to hear this book is banned there, then I was curious.
It was interesting and a little disturbing to read the goings on since he became involved with Scientology.
To those disbelievers, all I can say is this.........remember when Morton's book on Diana was published and all the hype surrounding that? They said it was baloney that she suffered from an eating disorder, tried to commit suicide and was unhappy in her marriage.
May have taken a few years but everything was proved to be correct.
If nothing else, Morton is careful how he reports things and I hear he has sources sign affidavits.
Smart man, good author, my bet is that he's got it right and it's worth reading about!!
Let's say I now understand somewhat a little better of why Tom Cruise behaves as he does.
Well worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as ever!, Feb 22 2008
If you are a Little Britain fan then you will LOVE this.

I wasn't too sure about the first show (there are 2 shows of 30 minutes each and a whole heap of extras) and found it a little "same old same old" but on watching the second show realised that it all pulled together and there were some moments in there that I did not expect, but really should have! Notably the desert island with Andy and Lou, but I won't spoil it!
Love the appearance of Peter Kay as Dudley's brother. I had to look hard to see if it was really him!
I hope this is not the end for the show, and await eagerly for more of Little BritaIN to add to my collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Likeable if not a little weird, Feb 22 2008
This is a movie you may dislike intensely or really like the quirkiness of it.
If you aren't good at thinking outside the box into the realms of illogical thought, then don't bother.
I like movies that make me think and this one does. You have to be able to sort out the jumble of what's going on in your head.
what is going on, is that Sandra Bullock's character is waking up on different days that are not in a logical order. So she wakes up in the future when her husband is not there, and then she wakes up and he is there.
It can be confusing if you don't have the brain power, or logical over-ride to understand this.
Not one of her best movies but it made me work my brain which is why I awarded it 4 stars.
Most movies bore me to death because they are predictable and this one isn't

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, stupid and totally escapist, Feb 22 2008
If you're a movie snob then this is NOT a movie for you. Don't even try.

If, however, you are a kid at heart and want some escapism for a short while and aren't afraid of laughing at really stupid stuff then this is for YOU!

I enjoy this movie and drag it out now and again and find myself laughing at the same things over and over (like when she practices kissing on a tree)and gets cuaght by a nun.
Maybe you have to be a bit wacky to enjoy this movie but I have an off the wall sense of humour so it appeals to me!
Pure entetainment that doesn't stretch your brain but hopefully will stretch your sides due to laughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic "off the wall" British humour", Jan 29 2008
If you've seen the first series then the second one is a MUST.
I eagerly awaited this DVD only to find I was not disappointed.
I remember watching this on TV in the 80's in the UK and was THRILLEd to find it on DVD in Canada.
It does not disappoint.
It is still the same idea in that they are still lazy and still do nothing but sit and watch the telly and swear but in this series, Denise is pregnant and Anthony has a girlfriend (Emma).
It is the same humour, with Barbara trying to get Jim to stop swearing (especially at Sunday dinner) but Denise is lazier (is it possible?) and Jim is funnier. How can this be so? Nana comes to visit when she has a cataract removed from her eye. Jim wants to get rid of her back home and hence the fun begins.
Very poignant Christmas episode between Denise and Jim when the baby decides it's time.
~~~~~~~SPOILER~~~~~~~~~
Funniest one liner in the show when heavily pregnant Denise's waters broke in the bathroom. Barbara tells Jim to go and look after Denise whilst she phones an ambulance. Denise tells him "Dad me waters have broke." Jim replies, "Are you sure you it wasn't just a big piss?"
PRICELESS
5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious must see comedy, Mar 4 2007
If you like British comedy this is one of the most hilarious ones ever written.
The Royles are a family of lazy slobs, apart from poor Anthony the son who has to get up and answer the phone, the door, fetch a cup of tea etc.
The father, Jim, rarely does anything other than watch TV and drink and swear, his favourite word being "arse". The ashtray is always overflowing as they chainsmoke and put the world to rights!
The wit is very funny and although the majority of the scenes are in the living room around the TV (occassionally the dinner table) it is well worth watching.
I'm surprised it took this long to get to North America and on DVD. I can't wait for Series 2 and 3.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book, Feb 25 2007
I loved this book. It was a detailed account of Kuklinski's secret life.
Unbelievable how he got away with it all for so long.
Well worth reading, it had me hooked.
4.0 out of 5 stars Little mistakes that could be avoided, Feb 25 2007
I thought this movie was superb.
It does irritate me though that the researchers get their facts wrong.
Evey is quoted as saying that she went to grammar school on passing her 11+ exam. Seeing as she was born in 1985 (I rewound the DVD just to make sure) she would have been 11 in 1996. Seeing as the 11+ was abolished in 1975 this fact alone is annoyingly wrong. As one of the last batch of 11+ sitters I remember this fact very well.
Also Finch pronounces the word "lever" the American way..........English lee-ver, American le_ver. Really irritating.
Maybe I spot these things more since living in Canada but you'd think the movies should get it right!!
Still a great movie though. Wish we could have seen V.
2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, April 11 2005
Story is good in theory but comes across as a little confusing due to time shifts that are not always easy to catch. One scene jumps a whole year and one of the couples have got married in that year. It takes you a while to work it out.
I watched this with 4 other girls and we were all bored because there was a lack of anything going on, or when it was, it was too predictable. I thought this would be a tense psychological thriller.
Big disppointment all round, glad I reneted instead of buying it.
