Good film, but the ending could have been better., Aug 19 2003
The film realy takes off with its great beginning, and the plot runs on and on, with every character as convincing as the last. And a well put together crime caper movie. However, the story lags a little towards the end of it. The pre-end part with the leading characters son, was awsome, and the film was going great but didn't end that well. It seems that the film should have ended before it got carried away. Other than the end however it is wonderful and origonal strait from the beginning.

One of the most underrated horror flicks of all time, Aug 18 2003
Critical people call this movie stupid, or boring. There is never a dull moment in the film, and compared to other recent horror flicks. The bad reviewers seems to be the smallest of men. I recommend this film to any person who knows what a good movies is. Watch a good old fashioned slasher flick, anytime. This one is way better than the second one. You don't know the meaning of the word underrated until you've seen this movie.

Perhaps the greatest horror film ever made, Aug 7 2003
Because of its black and white photography, eiree music, imaginative horror scenes, and its killer cast, let's not forget about Alfred Hitchock, shall we. He invented horror, he was able to turn things that seemed so stupid into one of the scariest things you've ever scene. With the way people make horror films today, it's more disgusting than it is terrifying. Anthony Perkins practically owned the role, he was phenominal. PS, Don't close your eyes in the shower!

Not bad, July 26 2003
While reading this novel, I found it intensifying. It had few flaws (such as the fact that the story would have been better off if it was based on a fictional Hollywood star rather than James Dean). However, it is funny, witty, and most of all thrilling. Everyones entitled to there own opinion however. But to me it is a pretty great book.

To the crybabies wining over pan & scan, July 24 2003
As another reviewer said, the film was shot in pan & scan. So the sides weren't "cropped off," next time you might want to check the lable before you go rent the movie, no offense to anyone, but aren't guys being a bunch of cybabies? For pete's sake, I wonder if you guys through away other great films shot that way (like "On the Waterfront" and "From here to eternity"). You crybabies might want to check a search engine to see if a widescreen version even exsists rather than waist you time putting down a good movie.. Nuff said.

Not as bad as other people say it is,, July 12 2003
This is Star Wars at its best, it has everything: action, love, tragedy, comedy, respect, mystery, science fiction, and much much more. Some people say this film is boring, well next time don't take sleeping pills while watching the movie because a big explosion is right in the first five minutes of the film, then following shortly is the chase through Coroscant, that was like "The French Connection" with flight! Then we get to see Obi-Wan play detective and fight Jango Fett and chase him through an asteriod feald and almost get blown up. Meanwhile we see Anikan look for his mother which gets really engrossing. Then we go back to Obi-Wan and see him spying on the trade federation which gets heart pounding. And the last half hour of the film is breath taking, fireworks going off in the droid factory, then we see our heros battle it with three monsters, then we see jedi at there best with lightsabers and lazors going all over the place, and we get to see the first storm troopers, then Obi-Wan battle it out with the Dookster, then see Aniken use two lightsabers, and then Yoda use his which is the best part. And what about Hayden Christensons acting? I'll admitt that he wasn't to happy with him at the beginning but when you got into the film he really had his moments. The love scenes weren't that bad either, the love scenes came just at the right time. It's the best time watching a movie that you will ever have. Oh and another thing for all you one star reviewers, if you think the film is so bad then why are you even waisting your time bad-mouthing a good movie, I mean it's one thing to write down what you think about a film one time even if you think it is bad, but to keep on repeating it hoping every one will go with you on your review is just pointless that's just saying you one star revewers just got nothing better to do (this includes the guy who thinks he's Jonathin Taylor). So you might want to think of some better ways to kill time.

A classic!, July 10 2003
First of all let me say that Montgomery Clift was phenominal in the role of Robert Prewitt, he was so good that it earned him an academy award nomination. And this film is also superb for this time, as it seems that today some people don't even know how to make movies, I hear all this corny dialogue in films these days, but I can't find anything corny with the dialogue said in "From here to Eternity". There are so many classic moments such as Burt Lancasters and Debera Currs run through the beach (that's an obvious one), Montgomery Clifts bowing moment and his musical number in playing "Reenlistment Blues," as well as his knife fight with Fatso You can see that the film is about walking the line or pay the price, and drama before Pearl Harbor. If you like love drama and action then don't miss the top 100 movies flick. (#52)

"American Graffiti" and "Rebel Without a Cause," related?, July 8 2003
"American Graffiti" is a classic film that in some ways, can relate to another classic: "Rebel Without a Cause," both were about teenagers. In "American Graffiti," within a day, all characters mature and grow up. It is the same with Jim Stark in "Rebel Without a Cause," who in the film is caught in something big that will effect his life forever (the chicky run), as that is also the case with Steve and Kurt in "American Graffiti" (should they stay home or fly off east to collage). "Rebel Without a Cause" was based on James Dean and his character from "East of Eden," George Lucas based all of the male leads in "American Graffiti" (with the exception of Steve Bolander) on himself. Both films represent teenage nostalgia (although at the time it was made, "Rebel Without a Cause" just represented teenagers) "American Graffiti" would represent the great memories you had as a teenager in the 50's and early 60's, "Rebel Without a Cause" would represent what you were caught up in, and how to be a man in the 50's. Both films have dark ending which are horrificly realistic as in "Rebel Without a Cause" when the Plato character runs away with an unloaded gun and is shot by the police (the same fate of Dallas Winstons charatcer in "The Outsiders") and in "American Graffiti" when it shows the epilogue of our heroes where John Milner is killed and becomes apart of the legacy of racing heroes in that junk yard that he and Carol had walked through earlyer in the film. Terry "The Toad" meets a heroes end as his final fate is being "Declared missing in action." Steve finds out what he wants to do with his life and decides not to make it big but live a peaceful life as an insurance agent in Madesto. And Kurt makes up his mind as he becomes a writter living in Canada. There is lightness in both dark endings of the films as in "Rebel Without a Cause" Jims father finally faces father hood and is there for Jim, along with in "American Graffiti," with Steves and Kurts future. Over all, both movies were superb, realistic, memorable, and will share a long lasting place in movie history.

I've seen better, July 3 2003
I wouldn't really call this a big film, I would say it's more like an average film. While it succeeds in alot of ways (such as the effects, photography, film editing, & costume disign) there are also a lot of things that it fails on (such as the screenplay, and accuracy of the film). This film also went for the wrong audiance: teenage girls. Well having that kind of an audiance with a film about a sinking ship is one thing but your hitting (a man) below the waist by choosing that audiance with a war film. Don't get me wrong, stories of love and war are not all that bad, but when a love story takes up about 2/3 of the story then that's going a little too far. The mistake with the love story didn't seem to be the only problem, but also the little things, such as how in the world did Ben Affleck get to Europe from America on a train? (some might argue that he takes the train to an airport station but the film never specifies that.) And what about the Dolittle Raid? it's slightly acurrate such as there were two plains that crash landed in Tokyo, but the pilots were captured by the Japs and remained prisoners until the war was over. Anyways, this film balances out, it's not really my favorite movie in the word but I don't totally dispize it either, which is why I give this film a 3-star rating.

The eyes of Texas are apon you., July 2 2003
The film is a portail of Texians and how they saw themselves. Of course I'm a James Dean fan and saw it for the first time on television, the first time I saw it I was as little dissapointed with the film. But then I had to figure that the film is nt about James Dean, but about Texas, and seeing the film as a whole, it will leave you thinking of a Texians point of view or perhaps, the film is actually seen from the eyes Elizibeth Taylors character, we are introduced to Texas the same way she is and go strait from there as the running time increases, we come to appriciate Texas. The DVD features are truly awsome and even the commentary is interesting and gets kind of funny when the characters Leslie and Bick make up after the big argument they had and then wake up the next morning. The chronicals of James Dean in the special features are also satisfying. "Giant" a great Texas epic.
