4.0 out of 5 stars Great source, Jun 8 2009
A 4 out of 5 only because it is so expensive. Yes everything in this set is available through the oracle of Google, yet having a real book to leaf through is somehow more satisfying.

If you use LaTeX weekly or more then this is a must buy, otherwise the price is a little steep.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great beginning, Jun 8 2009
This review is from: Wake (Hardcover)
Like most of Sawyers works this book is filled with extra nods to Canadians.

And like most of his works contains elements which should never be left out of science fiction: thinly veiled political commentary, using technology that is not completely understood to create a believable and unique scenario, and finally the exploration of some aspect of humanity. While not my favourite Sawyer novel [Rollback], this series could easily become my second favourite if the middle and end follow through with the setup this beginning presents.

A must read in my humble opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sugarland Album Yet., July 23 2008
This is by far my favourite Sugarland Album, and my vote for Best album of 2008. Well written, funny, and fanciful. If you like either Country, or Sugarland it is a must buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Personal, Jun 6 2008
This review is from: Rollback (Hardcover)
I disagree with the 2/3 star review, but I am biased. This is perhaps the most personal book that I have ever read. My character, personality, and opinions were so in-sync with Sarah that I felt this book was perhaps the most personal I have read. That being said it makes me the most Biased reviewer possible, as reading the book was not an exercise in fiction, but self search. I have convinced the people in my family who read continually to read this, to better understand me.

To those of you looking for true science fiction, Asimovian in nature I would highly recommend it

5.0 out of 5 stars Not even finished yet, Jun 6 2008
This review is from: The Host: A Novel (Hardcover)
Personally, my favourite books have always been ones where I could really explore the main characters' head, learn how they thought, and by the end predict their actions without making the book feel predictable. Most may disagree but the best characters I have found for this are Hannibal, and Prot. I will now have to add Melanie and the Wanderer to this list. For this reason I could not put the book down, reading over half of it last night. Some reviews have said that they find the book slow and the characters unbelievable, this is only true if you are looking for this book to be more than an exercise in psychology. Thank you Stephanie, this book has been truly a gift that I feel honoured to read.

This book has had one unintentional side affect, reminding me of childhood. For those of you that remember the Animorphs, this host parasite relationship brought back that series and every question that Applegate left me with about the Yeerks.

In closing I think that I will look out for any adult Meyer books, in hopes that they are half as engaging as this is.
