5.0 out of 5 stars Becoming Gods Sons/Servants Proxy Deliverers, Dec 23 2003
1. They that pass the tests of loyalty, which tests God orchestrates for them and they show him they are loyal to him.
2. They reach a point of purification where they know God has forgiven them of their sins. They cease to do evil and learn to do good.
3. They tend to the spiritual and material needs of others, following Christ example. They heal the sick, comfort those in need of comfort, cloth the naked, cast out devils, and raise the dead. The lean on God as he strengthens them through their struggles. They provide deliverance and the message of salvation to those less fortunate then them. They continue on towards perfection and sancify their lives further. These are they that are known, as "Saviors on Mount Zion". They act as an intermediary between God and man, as a type of Messiah. The prophet demonstrates this pattern. The prophet intercedes for the people of the world and church and pleads our case to the Lord. Joel and Alma stated we must all become prophets and be capable of prophesying of all things. The reason for this counsel is that Christ Servants are empowered as a type of Messiah and have the power to act accordingly.
4. The promises of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are realized and sealed through the spirit and power of Elijah in Holy Temples of the Lord.
5. God Servants act as a type of King David. They maintain the covenant and provide protection to God's people. The rebuke the curses of plagues, starvation, and death. The servants of God call upon divine protection. Just as the Lord provided divine protection against the Egyptians as they fled from bondage, so will God protect his people in our day.
6. Christ appears directly to his servants and ministers to them. Christ instructs them directly and communicates as one man speaks and reasons to another.
7. Gileadi Quote: As Christ's servants become more like Christ, by learning to love and serve others, he blesses them with the same eternal blessings and promised lands, thrones and dominions, and so forth as persons in the past. End Quote
8. Jesus said the "Meek would inherit the earth", these are the servants of God, as celestial beings they inherit the celestial earth. The earth will become a great urim and thummin and the glory of God will reside on the earth. Those who have received their exaltation will receive an inheritance on the earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ministering model that embraces everyone, Dec 23 2003
Isaiah Decoded

The pattern for traversing the ladder to heavan

Ruin and Rebirth (ch 1-5;34-35)
Rebellion and Compliance (ch 6-8; 36-40)
Punishment and Deliverance (ch 9-12; 41-46)
Humilation and Exaltation (ch 13-23;46-47)
Suffering and Salvation (ch 24-27; 48-54)
Disloyalty and Loyalty (ch 28-31; 55-59)
Disinheritance and Inheritance (ch 32-33; 60-66)

Gileadi Quote:
Isaiah's ladder accommodates every class of character, from the noblest to the basest and as on Jacob's ladder, the God of Israel-the creator of heavan and earth-stands at the top. The only way to experience "salvation" and "exaltation" is the meet the requirements. God asks each of us to love and be loved, to give and to receive, to reach out and be reached. Isaiah's ladder to heaven is a ministering model that embraces everyone, in which each of us discovers he or she is important.
End Quote

Hezekiah foreshadows our day

Hezekiah is a type of savior. Hezekiah interceded for his people providing "salvation" from the Assyrian forces of Sennacherib. You may recall, the Lord told Hezekiah, he would die soon, so, Hezekiah pleaded with the Lord to preserve his life. The Lord considered Hezekiah's valiancy in destroying the places of Idol Worship in Israel and restoring the covenant with House of Israel and chose too extended Hezekiah life by fifteen years through both a miracle and a sign (sun dial turned back). Isaiah counseled Hezekiah not form an alliance with Egypt because the Egyptian soldiers were men not Gods and Isaiah foresaw the Egyptian army falling to the Asyrians and the Lord would fight Israel's battles.

Sennacherib blasphemied God and his cursing were known by God causing the wrath of God to be turned against the Asyrians and as they came to deliver the death blow to Israel, a rumor was heard among the soldiers causing them change course away from Jerusalem. The Lord sent his destroying angel to lay waste 185,000 Assyrian Soldiers. This pattern is a foreshadowing of our day. The watchmen need to wake up from their sleep and be aware where the enemy resides and his movements. The enemy will strike fast and his destructions are at a global scale that no organization can mitigate, neutralize, or alleviate the suffering. Only those who are prepared shall not fear, the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Gileadi Quote
Just as the king of Assyria attack's God's people "Israel", so he attack "Egypt". In Isaiah's end-time scenario Isaiah is also a codename. Isaiah use Egypt and Assyria as codenames for end-time world powers follows a pattern often employed by Hebrew prophets. Zechariah, for instance speaks of Egypt and Assyria as world powers God will subdue in a future day of destruction. (Zech 10:11) So they represent opposite Political and Spiritual Power Today: (Egypt verses Assyria) (Zion verse Babylon)

When Assyria suddenly became a world threat, other nations still looked to Egypt's immense military might to defend them, trusting in alliances for protection: "Woe to those who do down to Egypt for help, relying on horses, putting their trust in immense numbers of chariots and vast forces of horsemen, but who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor inquire of the Lord!" ...The Egyptians are human, not divine, their heros are flesh, not spirit: when the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help them will stumble and those helped will fall; both will come to the end together...Pharaoh's protection will turn to shame, shelter in Egypt's shadow to embarrassment (Isaiah 30:3;31,3)

However, the only nation today that fits Isaiah's description of "Egypt" is America...In future rerun of past events, we may expect to see a scenario develop like that of Isaiah's time: when Egypt's inhabitants choose evil, preferring idols and spiritually altered states; when Egypt's economy crashes and civil war sweeps the land; when Egypt's politicians take matters into their own hands and mislead the nation. God empowers the king of Assyria against them.
End Quote

Gileadi Quote
Meanwhile, the king of Assyria/Babylon wants much more than to subdue and destroy God's people, though this is the chief goal, his desire for power is insatiable; it know no bounds. The archtyrant wants to rule the whole world, not simply bring people to justice or humble them. God appoints him to punish the wicked, as Isaiah notes, but "it will not seem so to him, this will not be what he has in mind. His purpose will be to annihilate and to exterminate nations not a few." (Isaiah 10:7) As they set out to conquer the world, the king of Assyria/Babylon and his alliance of nations commit murder on a scale never before seen. The horror of their rape of the earth will surpass all that has gone before.
The archtrant doesn't know, God allows him, to do all he does. He thinks he has achieved it all by himself; unaware he was only part of the larger purpose. He boasts, the noun "I" appears seven times. "I have done it by my own ability and shrewdness, for I am ingenious. I have done away with the boundaries of the nations, I have ravaged their reserves, I have vastly reduced the inhabitants. I have impounded the wealth of peoples like a nest, and I have gathered up the whole world as one gathers abandoned eggs, not one flapped its wins, or opened its mouth to utter a peep (Isaiah 10:13-14)
End Quote

The archtrant desire World domination and by reducing world population, his goal can be achieved.

The archetyrant tries to make Assyria the "head of the nations" and not "Israel"

Gileadi Quote
God gives him (archtyrant) power over the wicked of God's people throughout the world because they have "transgressed the laws, changed the ordinances, and set at naught the everlasting covenant" (Isaiah 24:5)
End Quote

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked the focus on Retain Earnings and Consumer Monopolies, Dec 23 2003
1. Does the business have an identifible consumer monopoly?

Customer monopolys provide perdictable retain earnings, year after year, because of their positioning in the market. Customer monopolys are unlikely to be upset by a competitor in the same market space. Buffettology seeks to analyze companies with a toll-bridge business model, these are reoccurring services and provides that drive sustained revenue. The test for customer monopoly is determined by who much a investment banker will fund, if you should gain ownership rights for startup.

2. Are the earnings of the company strong and showing an upward trend?

The central theme of Buffettology is measure what the company does with its retain earnings long term. Working Capital=Current Liabilities less Assets, Return on Equity= Net Income/Working Capital * 100, and Earnings per Share = Net Income / shares.

Consistent retained earnings demostrates strength in the sector. Dividend payments diminishes the earning strength caused by taxation on the payment. Companies who year after year maintain above average return on equity demonstrate they know too get a return on their retained earnings investments. Consistent retain earning levels make long term prediction possible. Consumer monopolys create barieers for other competition factions to take away business. Knowing a predictable return on investment creates confidence and provides leveraging motivations for external investment.

Buying low priced securities helps increases the rate of return. Invest from an financial or accounting business perspective. Wait for the market to go down, to get the right price. Diversity does not necessarily product return on investment. All you need to know what to buy and at what price. Determine the kind of company you want ownership in and determine the sale price you will purchase at.

Finding the right price uses an technic called Intrinistic Value (IV). IV=Earnings/(.10) {Bond percent } *100. The share price must not exceed the IV price. This helps you determine the right price to buy. Look for a bargin in a qualified company. This requires patience.

3. Is the company conservatively financed?

Select companies that use retained earnings for financing than long term debt for financing. Debt finances growth, growth drives price higher, and interest compounding reduces earnings. So, conservatively financed companies do not take away earnings.

4. Does the business consistently earn a high rate of return on shareholder equity?

Shareholder equity=Companies assets less current liabilities. Return on Equity = After Tax Earnings / Shareholder Equity. Buffettology wants sustained return on equity of 12 to 15 percent.

Price of the share is used to determine when to buy and return on equity is used to determine when to sell. Look for bargin prices to buy, this requires patience. The goal is achieve predictability in the direction of the companies growth. Customer monopoly's are resistence to change and can leverage economy of scale to drive down price. Earnings are used to predict the likihood of consistent performance in the consumer sector. Drops in earnings could indicate shifts in consumer spending patterns and new emerging markets. Return on Equity tells you when to abandoned the company.

5. Does the business get to retain its earnings?

Companies that keep their retain earnings qualify for selection scrutiny. Dividends reward stock holders; however are subject to taxation. Select companies that retain their earnings to be used in the growth of their company. The earnings must exceed the rate of return of a bond.

6. How much does the business have to spend on maintaining current operations?

Exclude companies that channel a significant portion of their retain earning for repair and maintenance. Select companies that have low cyclic operation costs. In commodity based companies the low cost provider wins. Commodity based companies are the least appealing Buffettology investment because of their maintenance cost requirements.

7. Is the company free to reinvest retained earnings in new business opportunities, expansion of operations, or share repurchases? How good of a job does management do at this?

The goal is to increase the return on investment rates. This is an area is risky for consumer monopolies because they enter into businesses that are not their core competences seeking to growth larger. The fantasy of an every expanding company can cause losses which equates to abandonment of the investor. Buffett's philosophy is to "know what the business does" and determine "how well they know their business". Perhaps, this is the double edge sword to praise and to avoid dependant on the strength of response for the previous two statements.

Share repurchases seems like a good idea. Share repurchase remove debt owed to the shareholder. Less debt may mean a stronger financial.

8. Is the company free to adjust prices to inflation?

This may be an accounting question. Most accounting software packages can adjust for inflation in their accounting software.

9. Will the value added by retained earnings increase the market value of the company?

This is complex. Its starts with Present Value and use compounding to determine end value over a specific interval of time. In most cases the retain earnings will increase the end value; however, if the company is losing its consumer monopoly to a new market force than it should be abandoned.

5.0 out of 5 stars The battle of the Network Computer (NC), Dec 9 2003
The most interesting significant dialogue in the book focused around the battle between Oracle's Larry Ellison and Bill Gates, on the subject of the network computer (NC). Gates was so competitive, the author points out Gates dated Ellison's ex-wife, that's sick! Gates personal life is appalling. Don't get caught up in Gates personal life, however, disgusing; look instead at the company - he built.

Ellision marketed NC as the window operating system killer. The battle became a marketing and Public Relations battle more than a technology feasiblity battle. NC technology over credited the consumer burden of a supposedly costly operating system. In reality the windows operating system cost only a very small portion of the PC cost. PC technology invested billions to research and development. Such that, Intel and AMD research and development increased computational power, decreased cost, and PC components were more integratable. IBM technology reduce cost for harddrives and increased storage capacity. The PC component assembly standardized allowing various components to work together. Different manufacturers produced the mother boards, memory chips, and CPUs. Shifts in technology manufacturing to Asia reduced operating costs. Bill Gates did not believe the NC would replace the windows operating system. Gates more correctly access the pulse of the customer which was richer sets of business functionality. Consumers had become accustomed to powerful desktop applications.

At the same time desktop PCs were becoming a common and expected business expense, PC technology was proving to be an acceptable server technology running business great plains financials, sql server, exchange server, merchant server, and .net middleware applications.
Windows weakeness in massive parallel processing has been gaining in strength with each new generation of operating system. Unix had a twenty year head start in the area of symetrically parallel processing, however, Microsoft will become the leader in this field.

Software price barriers for small too medium size businesses were removed giving them affordable software and hardware infrastructures, offer by PC technology and Microsoft. Microsoft respond back too NC threat by a few of their own PR tactics. However, in the end the PC itself attracted consumers to continue buying.

On tactic was the acquistion of WebTV. Microsoft spent $420 million to buy WebTV. The first time, I saw WebTV, it didn't seem that impressive. However, consider this, as fiber optic technology investment increases and provides infrastructure for massive data bandwidth increases equal to 100,000 times modem bandwidth than Web application support becomes the bottle neck. Which company will build the software to control the information? Will the java based companies control the information or will the dot net companies? My bet is dot net technology will be the developers choice.

The WinTel PC technology is gaining more strength and effectiveness and considered as reliable servers. The benchmark must be value returned and cost per user. Why doesn't Microsoft build a dot net framework for Unix? I believe because it is unnecessary. Microsoft next generation of Operating system will scalable and powerful enough to run enterprise scale applications. Many ERP companies are realizing this shift. The investment in software development will converge on this fact and dot will experience rapid acceleration of momentum. The NC paradim was doomed because - it didn't match reality. I like the mainframe concept of change it once and effect all the users. The dot net framework provides the equivalent concept, fantasic!

Development training and marketing has always been a strong trait of Microsoft. Technology is Microsoft's religion. 100 hour weeks, with sleeping back hanging on the door, break rooms without tables, fat content food distributed as incentives to continue working, and the desire to dominate every techology sector. Gates established a culture of paronia, where every competitor was a real threat. Developers worked late into the evening and start early in the morning. Gates slept better if they worked late. The end result was a trememous amount of business functionality translating into wealth. The plot to get Bill Gates is much more about a plot to develop a capalistic culture producing jobs, wealth, and empowering the worker into a knowledge worker instead of a corporate cog.

Visual Studio.net and particularly Internet technologies have shifted strength to Microsoft development technology. C# will takeover java technology. The technology infrastructure is richer and eventually more large companies will abandon java for c#. The microsoft technology is far superior. The PC technology is more powerful. Microsoft is moving fast. The media underestimates their force.

Fiber optics will only increase the demand for more software development. Standardized APIs will empower developers to create more areas of business functionality reducing the cost of business. Voice, video, and data information will be transport over very fast network communication lines. You can bet on the fact that Microsoft technology will run the middleware guaranteeing integrated systems maintain their integrity. The dot net framework simplified component management and allow leveraging of object across multiple network computers. In the past DLL hell made Microsoft windows too complex. The dot net framework greatly simplifies the problems of managing components.

5.0 out of 5 stars Digital Nervous System, Dec 9 2003
The digital nervous system is built using PC technologies, low cost software, and internet protocols. Specialized companies give choice in terms of chips, system software, business applications, networking, and service. COM/.Net Object technology allows the developer to use the component without having to know the inner workings, extends usefuliness through reusability, and communicates across different networks as three tiered architecture. For example, Merill Lynch presents fifty separate applications as one single interface on the desktop.

Middleware serves the purpose too make different applications and systems integrate together. Middleware has the potential to keep all data consistent between different systems. Leaps in PC performance have eliminated the need to deploy incompabile middleware applications. High end PC hardware is compability and the software is a 100 percent compabile. The homogeneous platform is the reason PCs are being accepted as servers. ERP companies are moving to PC technology realizing support for more internet user pools at lower costs. The internet protocol allows software running on PC servers to provide information analysis and business transactions.

Out of the box software provides easy to customize applications to meet business needs. Using a three tiered architecture combined with customized software makes customization more possible. Companies of all sizes have PC technology. Microsoft next generation of 64 bit operating system will give Microsoft a larger stake of Unix servers. Microsoft NT has already scaled by Unisys as a Mainframe power equivalent operating system. Microsoft and telecom technology will allow voice and data networks to pass information over fiber lines and be internet based.

Savings on infrastructure are significant. Listed companies realizing savings were: McDonalds - predicted savings of 18 percent, Dayton Hudson ($100 million and save at least that amount in operation savings), Lockheed and Martin Marietta (cut IT spending by $700 million over five years - realized in two years),

Horizonally integrated computer industry based on PC technology attracts more software development. Software developer build software components reducing the cost of business and providing a rich layer of functionality. Windows standardize operating system insulates the developer from the variablity of the hardware. Selecting PC technology safe quards your software investment and retains hardware preference.

In summary, cheap harddrives, massive amounts of memory, faster processors have reduced the cost of PC technology. Rich internet applications can be streamed to browser or client applications using internet protocols. More cities will invest in fiber optic infrastructure bring media, voice, and video to businesses and homes. Combining these two factors: cheap PC technology and standardize Internet Protocols will allow software developers to provide rich business functionality and result in "Free capitalism". We are just beginning to discover what the computer can do for us. There will be many more billionaries in the next generation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing, Dec 1 2003
I liked the idea of action based power based on principle center living. Covey, ideas are pragmatic, easy to understand, and translate intuitively. Points of the book that appealed to me were: character oriented development, make a choice based on principles, live is a balance of numerous inputs, prioritize your interests, create a mission statement, and visualize the outcome. Principle center living produces: power, wisdom, safety, and guidance. I was intriged by the 7 step model. Two ideas appeal: gain mastery overself before gaining influence over the public and seek to understand before being understood. Covey's ideas on perception were also good.

The synergy chapter was too complex too comprehend. My understanding of synergy is that only very intelligent individuals (geniuses) can understand how synergy works. Synergy is a fine tuning and balancing endeavor to find the right combination producing the optimum results. The difficulty in lumping synergy into one concept is that synergy formulas must constantly changing dependant on the number of new conditions in the environment. If the environment remains constant than synergy is possible and effective. For example, some metal mineral combinations combine too make a stronger product than the sum of its parts. The number of variables effecting the materials seems to be insignificant to the mineral combination. However, to look at cultures and people and say that synergy could be applied group known characteristics into a well known category is uncertain. Covey believes in natural laws which can not be broken. One such law is gravity. Gravity applies consistently to all masses. So a synergistic system centered on natural laws seems pausible. However, I still think Synergy is too complex for most of us to comprehend. Its seems like Coveys ideas on this subject are more idealistic. Suppose, their are individuals who could harshiness synergy consistently, then we could expect them to outproduce the norm by 2,10, or 1600 times. Synergy would become the gold spoon of effectiveness.

5.0 out of 5 stars King,Davidic & Abrahamic covenant,High Priest,Temple,Zion, Nov 24 2003
Brilliant, Gileadi, is one of the shining stars in understanding prophecies of the last days. I found many of insights helpful and insightful.

The saints of God must turn away from false Gods, turn their hearts to the Lord, and seek out their "Calling and Election". In the last days, Christ words will be considered by some to be true and other fables. Christ is the Messiah King providing covenant protection, exaltation, and creation and order in the Universe. Christ servants protect the covenant people. Prototype of Christ were: Moses, Abraham, Melchezedek, Nephi, Benjamin, Mosiah, and Joseph Smith. Christ is the great high priest interceding for the children of the covenant bringing us back into the presence of Heavanly Father.

Christ's atonement, resurrection, and law giving him capability too ransom us back into grace with Heavanly Father. Christ determines the integrity of the individual's determination to obey commandments, endure to the end, and serve; and justifies the individual worthy by pleading his case. As King, Christ has absolute power, absolute knowledge, and absolute presence. When the saints keep the covenant they are ensure protection. When they break the covenant they are left to their own power.
Avraham says Christ attempted to establish his covenant during his mortal ministry but was unable. As a consequence of not establishing the covenant: Nero's pillage, dispora, and the holocaust occurred as the Jews were unable to stop the intruding forces of evil. The Jews are still waiting for their King Messiah having been betrayed by many false Messiahs.

Christ established the New and Everlasting covenant. Through the spirit and power of Elijah the promises of the covenant are sealed. Father is sealed to child and child to father. The keys of Elijah were restored to Joseph Smith. Throught the spirit and power of Elijah, the temple have the power of salvation and exaltation. In essence, the saints have all the saving ordanances necessary to receive their calling and election. A foreshadowing of Zion and Zion will be established creating the Heavanly city. The ten tribes of Israel will reunite, 144,000 high priest will be selected and receive their calling and election, and Christ will return to the earth. The prophecies of Isaiah, Ezechial, Joel, Micah, Nephi, Jeremiah, John the Revelator will be fulfilled and the earth will be restored to its paradiscal glory.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gary Wendt and Dennis Nayden, Nov 22 2003
This review is from: Jack (Hardcover)
What would GE be like without Gary Wendt, Dennis Nayden, and Mike Neal? Nayden the brainpower to structure big complex deal; Neals the people connections negotiator; and Wendt the idea man and acquistion proposing machine. Wendt and Nayden drove GE towards global growth: The 1983 purchase of American Mortgage , 1984 purchase of Employers Reinsurance Corp (Stanger and Dammerman), private label credit cards, commerical finance deals (Wendt), 1994 $12 billion in asset acquistions, 1995 $25 billion in asset acquistions, Banks in Poland and Czech Republic, (Wendt and Nayden close 400 deals involving $200 billion in assets). The numbers are convincing that the acquistions in themselve created wealth. Welsh did not condemn Wendt's asset collection drive with GEs total assets excessing $400 billion. Wendt and Nayden were the real wealth creators of GE. Harvard Business Review would use GE as a model of successfully integrating acquired businesses. GE's exporting Financial services to a global economy drow GEs growth rate.

Dr. Welsh seems to believe Six Sigma and eBusiness turned GE around. Lets look at the impact of Six Sigma. Six Sigma is about knowing business processes to reduce variance increasing cost savings; Gary Reiner and Bob Nelson projected a $7-10 billion cost savings; 1996, Six sigma rolled out under Mike Harry; a 60 fixed and 40 percent six sigma bonus was established; in the first year 30,000 employees were trained at a cost of $200 million. Six sigma performance enhancements: 99.99 change of getting a person in a call center, 5.7 Sigma purity standard for Sony CDs, CT scanner improvement from 3 minutes to 17 seconds, from 1996-1997 6,000 six sigma projects achieving a revenue of $320 million, 1998, a $750 million six sigma savings, increasing operating margins from 14.8 percent in 1996 to 18.9 percent in 2000. Customer felt the effects of six sigma: plastic product span from 50 days to 5; aircraft engines from 80 days to 5; and mortgage insurance from 54 days to 1 day. The customer received what they wanted when they expected it.

Dr Welsh insightfully explains GE drove customer from traditional outlets and contacts to the internet. GE had the customer demand and purchasing drive and so it was logical to channel that
activity to the internet. GE saw the internet as three parts: the buy, the make, and the sell. In implement the internet, GE did not forget the rule "never let anyone get between you and your customers", meaning they would not destory customer relationships with technology.

In summary, I was amused with the life style of the rich and famous Welch, however, I will spend more time following the career of Wendt, Nayden, and Neal, in my opinion the true geniuses of GE, the creative minds behind the wealth creating machine. Its not difficult to understand GE double digit growth, GE recognized globalization strategies early and expanding into india, Japan, thailand, and South America.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not enough, Nov 13 2003
The book was good, but not enough. The last page Quindlen quotes the wisdom from a homeless man, "And I asked him why, Why didn't he go to one of the shelters? Why didn't he check himself into the hospital for detox?" And he stared out at the ocean and said, "Look at the view, young lady, Look at the view." Quindlen says, "when I do what he said, I am never disappointed". I disagree with that premise that happiness can be achieved through the worship of nature. Our hearts must turn to Christ for happiness. Happiness comes by worshipping the true and living God, Jesus Christ. So, her innocent philosophy is a subtle form of idol worship. Quindlens own struggle for spiritual understanding began with the death of her mother, to Ovarian cancer. Quindlen says, "Gods greatest gift to man is his own understanding of mortality". Ok, we are mortal: we live and we eventually die. Quindlen challenges the reader to "get a real life", to live a "life of the heart", a life other than a career, off beat from the rat race, "I show up, I listen, I try to laugh", enjoy precious moments - like a child picking up a cheerio, "learn to be human", "exhaust the moment", "life is good", and "no man has said at his death bed, I wish I had spent more time at the office."

For a global economy-one marketplace-to work, we must eventually have completely free trade among the nations, just as we do within the nation-states themselves (John Naisbitt - Megatrend 2000)

The United States biggest import is money. Its largest export by far are bonds, stocks, and other financial instruments. The United States is the largest producer in the global economy, it represents 25 percent of the world production and 5 percent of the population. Any country that attempts to remain economically closed and apart from the global economy will be left hopelessly behind.

Global Economy trends 1) Privatization of Business 2) Bankruptcy 3) Stock Markets 4) decreasing reliance on the blue collar worker 5) increased reliance on telecommunications and technology 6) Decreasing size and importance of unions 7) elimination of the command economies 8) the rising growth rate of the pacific rim - the shift from European production to Asian production and wealth (China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore). The pacific rim is experiencing the fastest period of economic growth more than five times of the industrial revolution. China and the four tigers have learned to skip over the industrial revolution and enter the informational revolution.
