5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a New York City Junkie, March 25 2004
I read this textbook-like coffee table book from corner to corner and since I lap up New York history I loved it. Burns could have included so much more on Moses but didn't though. Still, and outstanding compilation of information. Plus, a beautiful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars REALLY cool, March 25 2004
Its just a cool book about old new york. All the sleeze and scum and drugs and prostitution and raw sewage of society is here to learn about. Learn about this amazing city before it became the glorious place with million dollar condo's and uppedy stores on 57th Street.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece of Humor, March 25 2004

This guy truly has a gift. What a twisted, wacky, hysterical piece of writing. If you don't laugh at one chapter, you'll crack up at the next. A quick read, an enjoyable one.

5.0 out of 5 stars An extraordinarily unique writer, March 25 2004
This review is from: Me Talk Pretty One Day (Paperback)
Sedaris does it again. This one is not as entertaining as "Naked" but still does the job. Sedaris writes about the full spectrum of human feelings and makes it funny, hysterically, at the same time. So good, you can barely put it down, I promise you that.
