4.0 out of 5 stars Useful size, print large relative to pocket format, Jan. 30 2014

TYhis is a very nice, genuine leather small Bible that is perfect to take to studies or church. It is quite attractive with beautiful goldpage edges and good quality paper. The concordance is rather short as is the atlas, but the column references are good. Well worth the price.

The Glenstal Book of Prayer: A Benedictine Prayer Book
The Glenstal Book of Prayer: A Benedictine Prayer Book

5.0 out of 5 stars Great prayer book, electronic version needs work, July 1 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Glenstal prayer book is a wonderful daily prayer book, both for simplified home use and for travel and retreat needs. It does conform to the basic Benedictine format, but with a wonderful Celtic spirit and intentionality of worshipfulness and joy that makes this prayer book one to 'move into' in your heart and prayer life in a permanent sense. The electronic version I got for my Ipad needs work however. It's the same prayer book, but the chapter divisions are scanty and therefore cumbersome. For example, the whole weeklong section for morning and evening prayer is made accessible by only one chapter heading- this is awkward beyond belief! You can use the bookmarker, but it would have been better to separate them as separate chapter headings. If you can develop tricks to maneuver your way around the Kindle version, it is still a great prayer book that I now wouldn't be without. So to sum up, indispensable and beautiful prayer book in book form, still the same in electronic form but needs better formatting. Thanks!

Whitelines Saddle Stitch A5 Lined Notebook: Supporting your ideas
Whitelines Saddle Stitch A5 Lined Notebook: Supporting your ideas

Edition: Paperback

1.0 out of 5 stars Not AT ALL as advertised!, May 22 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This notebook is a complete disappointment. Not only does it not have a coil binding, it has no 'saddle stitching', only two cheap metal staples. It also arrived with a crease on it, thus limiting its usefulness. An expensive letdown for such a small, and what should be cheap (say 79 cents), item. Buy something else!

Wisdom from the Monastery: A Program of Spiritual Healing
Wisdom from the Monastery: A Program of Spiritual Healing

Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars The best possible advice for physical or spiritual healing, May 8 2011
This book contains the most useful and most sublime advice for anyone who seeks to improve their physical, spiritual and even intellectual health that I've read in a long time. 'Wisdom from the Monastery' beats all the current 'health gurus' by a mile, with its insight into the complexities of human nature, how we go wrong, and what we need to do to re-build ourselves from the soul outward. I go back to this book over and over again, because it's so easy to be drawn off-track. It is full, not only of abstract principles and detailed directions, but stories of the author's own experience of various monasteries and convents. It is NOT only for monastics, but is extremely practical and uplifting for anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars No references, NOT giant type, Feb. 10 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Bible is not, as it is titled, in giant print, which should be at least 18 pt, but at best large print. Also, it is in paragraph style rather than column style, with virtually no references, helps, footnotes and certainly no concordance. It is barely better than a pew Bible; you are much better off to take a look at a study Bible if you can before buying it. I returned this one because not only did it have no helps, it was permanantly crushed in a number of places. Nelson NKJV giant print is much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diana with a difference, April 9 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is, to my mind, Diana Krall's most interesting, most unconventional CD. I'm sorry to see so many negative or dubious comments, because the song selection and the execution of this album are really outstanding. Especially if you are not a fan of the so-called 'standards', Diana's interpretation of Tom Waites, Joni Mitchell and even her own original material (written with her husband, superlative songwriter Elvis COstello), is subtle, artful and daring. I absolutely love this CD and have played it over and over, until even my husband (a diehard bluesman) has said 'that's enough to make me like jazz'! Diana, if you're listening, PLEASE do another one like this!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great content, poorly manufactured, Oct. 13 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There has already been a great deal said about this Bible as far as spiritual and scholarly content goes, and I will only add that I agree this is a wonderful and much needed edition. Having said that, then, why have they produced this book, which must (and at that price should) last for years, so cheaply? The paper is so thin, you can see ALL of the type on the other side of each page too clearly, on EVERY page. The paper also has the feel of thin newsprint, not fine onionskin, like some well-produced thin Bibles. It is also not the most longlasting binding- I've already had to glue mine where a bunch of pages fell out. I have no idea if the leather edition is any more resilient, but I hope so- in any case, I HIGHLY recommend the contents, but not the throwaway printing and binding.

1.0 out of 5 stars A great blues master at his cinematic worst!!, Nov. 4 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
With no disrespect intended to Howlin' Wolf, one the greatest bluesmen in music history, this DVD is absolutely terrible. The film quality is appalling, the sound quality is worse, and there is virtually no editing and no script. You often do not hear the vocal at all, and the camera was in the wrong place most of the time- usually blurry and shooting up everyone's nose. This must be purely a money making venture by Vestapol Productions; no doubt someone came across their old home movies of the Washington D.C. Festival and decided to turn it into cash. The Wolf was in obviously poor health and form in this performance, and the authors do him a discourtesy by producing this film after his death that he certainly would not have approved in his life. If you want a Howlin' Wolf DVD, you are much, MUCH better off with his biography, The Howlin' Wolf Story- the Secret History of Rock and Roll. I highly recommend it, as opposed to this unfortunate piece, which should never have been produced.
