4.0 out of 5 stars there's no Alice in this Wonderland, July 19 2004
This review is from: Wonderland [Import] (DVD)
Val Kilmer (Spartan, The Salton Sea) plays legendary porn king John C. Holmes during the time of the grizzly Wonderland murders in 1981. This centers around Holmes and the people around him, the fame, the drugs and the sex. Kilmer plays Holmes to the spark of the match. It's not like Boogie Nights because if you compare them together, then your dumb. I don't think the bludgened any one in Boogie Nights with a steel pipe. Plus Boogie Nights had a massive amount of nudity and this didnt. It had like one little scene where Val Kilmer and Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush, The Rules OF Attraction) are banging each other in Carrie Fisher's (Princess Leia) bathroom. The supporting cast include Josh Lucas (The Deep End, who delivers a mean role), a nice turn for Dylan McDermott (Tv's The Grid and The Practice), Ted Levine (buffalo bill in The Silence Of The Lambs) as another cop, hmm, Franky G. ( The Italian Job2003) in like his 3rd movie. an excellent Lisa Kudrow (Tv's Friends) as Kilmer's ex-wife Sharon Holmes. Tim Blake Nelson(Cherish), Eric Bogosian (Under Siege 2) as Eddie Nash, Janeane Garofalo (wet Hot American summer) in a small role, Natasha Gregson Wagner (stranger Than Fiction) in a small role as well.
Faison Love(Made)and Christina Applegate( Tv's Jesse) are also in a small role and a short cameo by the one and the only Paris Hilton (the classic paris hilton sex tape, which I havent seen yet). All in all I..ME....thought this movie was good. Blah to the rest of your snippy people. I have my own taste

2.0 out of 5 stars this is a let down from The Broken Lizard crew, July 19 2004
This review is from: Club Dread (DVD)
Super Troopers did a lot for me and it wasn't a classic but it was funny as hell. Zoom foward to Club Dread which in the complete end of it has stirred away from it's own pot. Broken Lizard gang brewed up a mix of flat jokes, gorey violence and some scantly revealing women. In conclusion if this is your cup of tea then go for it but it's a let down. Bill Paxton (Near Dark, the upcoming Thunderbirds) who plays Coconaut Pete is the only highlight in the movie. Brittney Daniel (tv's That 80's Show, Joe Dirt) plays Aerobics Amy has her moments. It's like a bad hangover.

3.0 out of 5 stars this camp is a little bit coo-coo, if you get my drift, July 12 2004
Paul Rudd (Anchorman, The Object Of My Affections), Janeane Garafalo (Copland, Minus Man), David Hyde Pierce(Tv's Fraiser, Osmosis Jones), Michael Ian Black (Tv's Ed, Tv's Viva Variety), Amy Poehler (Tv's Upright Citizens Brigade, Tv's SNL), Christopher Meloni (Tv's Law and Order SVU, Tv's Oz), Molly Shannon (Superstar, Osmosis Jones) and Marguerite Moreau (Queen Of The Damned) head an allstar cast in this satire about life on the last day of camp. The cast do some funny things. Meloni, the camp cook, has an inspiring speech towards the end about wiping mud on his ass and humping a fridge and also when he is talking to canned goods. Pierce and Garofalo are a perfect match for each other. Michael Ian Black has never been more funnier playing a kid who is gay and gets married in the lake and Paul Rudd plays Moreau's jealous boyfriend. Though sometimes crude and tasteless jokes weigh it down, it springs back up with a lot of heart.

1.0 out of 5 stars the blood, the guts, the bullets and the octane fall dead, July 12 2004
I was expecting bigger and better things from writer and director Joe Carnahan because he did infact write and direct NARC! Carnahan plays the mouthy, bad talking, macho Sid French and that other guy plays his partner. A lot of bad acting equals to miscasting. The black cop was annoying. The funniest guy was Vernon who was saying his guy friend had sexual relations with Johnny Cash. A tour-de-force of bad camera work mixed with bad editing and a wooden and stilled supporting cast. I think this tries to echoe into the realm of Quentin Tarantino but it never goes anywhere. A total waste of my time

5.0 out of 5 stars Tarintino does it again, July 8 2004
This review is from: Kill Bill 1 [Import] (VHS Tape)
not as much as great as Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs but a lot better than Jackie Brown id say. this one has Thurman going after Bill(David Carradine) and his viper assassination squad(Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Darly Hannah and Lucy Liu). the story goes that Bill massacered his wedding and the vipers beat the crap outta Thurman and put her into a four year coma, she wakes up and goes to Fox and kills her and then we get to see cool anime sprinkled into a bloody battle of comedy and pure adrenaline. the showdown at the chinese place is great with the girl and the spiked ball and chain, all the blood oozing and the battle with Lucy Liu with a great snowy background. there's also a great vehicle called the Pussy Wagon. a must see for Tarintino fans

5.0 out of 5 stars Tarantino's masterpiece is complete, July 8 2004
Do not care what anyone says, this is the shiznit right here. People thought the first one was better. It was only because of its array of anime sprinkled in with blood squirting action. This one is more of a layed back, fill in the blanks movie. You dont have to sit threw this one then watch the first one to get it, its like its complete all on its own. Flashbacks to the past with Bill and Beatrix Kiddo fill the blanks.Pie Mei is a hoot as the white long bearded, small, old chinese guy. Subtitiles and foreign language get to be boring after awhile but once the action kicks in, in the final 2 chapters it's worth it all. The final climax with Elle and Budd is great, as Michael Madsen(in a role fit for him) gets venom from a snake in him. The plucking of the eyeball part and bitch-fight scene between Daryl Hannah and Uma Thurman was a highlight. The final chapter is longer then the rest, being the final chapter. David Carradine plays Bill to the maximum. Folks, Tarantino loves to create story and long pieces of dialouge, he knows what he is doing. Loved Bill's speech about all the superheroes. Loved Thurman all dirty and sweaty. Loved everything about this movie. A movie too good for itself. Samuel L.Jackson has a small cameo in the wedding scene. Though no one can beat Charlie Brown in the first one, he ruled. The Kill Bill scene where she pokes him in the chest was a little let down but still, great movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Evans comes out hitting a homerun, July 8 2004
Robert Evans was behind a bunch of hollywood masterpieces such as Chinatown, The Marathon Man, Rosemary's Baby and The Godfather (just to name a few) and why he was involved with Popeye I have no clue. He must of been looney. Evans had a wife and child but he was divorced. He did drugs, got into the wrong things, lots of sex and he payed the price for the after math. He was friends with some of the greatest actors, directors and actresses of our time: Jack Nicholson, Mia Farrow, Roman Polanski, James Cagney, Dustin Hoffman and many more I honestly thought this was a good documentary about life in the hollywood eye. My favorite part is during the credits when Dustin Hoffman does the impersonation of Evans, that's a classic right there. If your interested, watch it and if your not, watch it once and then dont.

2.0 out of 5 stars ordinary people become murderers, July 1 2004
well it is safe to say that I survived this movie but I didnt quite like it all that much. there were things about it that were just too blah. Dina Meyer(Starship Troopers, Johnny Mnemonic) is the hottie in this movie. Todd Field(Eyes Wide Shut, Twister) is the cool guy in this movie. Mackenzie Astin(Sean Astin's brother) is the crazy guy in this movie and Natasha Gregson Wagner(Modern Vampires, Another Day In Paradise) is the annoying one in this movie. Field has written a book called Stranger Than Fiction and he tells the tale to a man at a bar. Astin murders a gay police officer and things go downhill from there. It just spirals into twists that are far too perdictiable but some funny, like the hobo in the back of the car. The old lady had the funniest death of them all. If your a fan of any of the actors you should watch but if your not it's ok if you dont. Also that whole in different colors switch doesnt help at all

4.0 out of 5 stars a nicely done film with a exceptional cast, June 30 2004
Its a movie about sepereate people whose stories fuse together into one. They all meet or bump into one another along the way. Matthew McConaughey (Frailty, Reign Of Fire), Amy Irving, Alan Arkin (The Jerky Boys Movie, America's Sweethearts), John Turturro (The Man Who Cried, Barton Fink), Clea DuVall (Identity, Ghosts Of Mars), Tia Texada (Spartan, Bait), Frankie Faison and many others form the great line of work that is done here, especially Turturro, Arkin and McConaughey. So if your in for a little drama, this is the ticket.

You know I just hate complainers, if your gonna complain go tell your mommy, ok. If your not a fan of the show then just shut the hell up. It's not gonna do you any good to rant and rave about your pissy moods. The fans wont listen..This season was a major turn for the cast and crew and the show. We get into the character of Connor (Vincent Kartheiser) a lot more. We see Angel's (David Boreanaz) return from the ocean, Cordelia's (Charisma Carpenter)return from the heavens and Wesley's (Alexis Denisof) return to the team for the Apocalypse. Fred (Amy Acker) and Gunn (J. August Richards) break up in this season with a little love triangle between those two and Wesley. Faith (Eliza Dushku) and Willow (Alyson Hannigan) make guest appearances. Eliza is firehot as Faith, you cant deny that. If I was a biker, i'd like her to ride me. Lorne (Andy Hallett) returns from Las Vegas with the gang. Connor and Cordelia make love during the apocalypse while Angel is watching (whoa is all I gotta say). Wolfram and Hart get the smackdown of their lives from the nasty horny thing called The Beast (Vladimir Kulich). Among the dead lawyers is Gavin Park (Daniel Dae Kim). Angelus returns for 5 episodes and has some fun. Boreanaz knows how to make Angelus be bad and he does it good and its creepy. We get a 5 episode spread of a eclipse. We get a mystical pregnacy right under our noises (which was what Lorne said). Cordelia kills Lilah Morgan (Stephanie Romanov). Cordelia gives birth to a woman names Jasmine(Gina Torres, not the best choice but shes alright) who makes people really happy like their on some hightrip. Connor gets to see his mother Darla (Julie Benz) for the first time. They gang find out Jasmine is from another dimension and she is a maggot faced people eater. Angel gets into a fight with Jasmine but Connor ends up killing her. Lilah returns from hell to give Angel and the gang a bargain of a life time, Wolfram and Hart, fully rebuilt and brand new, but the only way Angel would do that is if Connor's mind was erased and they put him to another family so he would be at peace and Cordelia is put in a coma. Tune in to next season cuz I think the fifth and final season is the best, no doubts. Vincent Kartheiser and Andy Hallett's names are in the opening credits, though Kartheiser and Charisma Carpenter's names are pulled after the season end. I will enjoy this DVD till I die. Fans should do the same thing too
