The Girl Gets the Girl in This Cute Comedy, Feb 7 2011
"But I'm A Cheerleader" tells the story of Meghan, who at first glimpse is a model teenager ("I get good grades, I go to church...I'm a cheerleader!"). But Meghan's parents and friends think something is up: she has a picture of a girl in a bikini in her locker, a Melissa Etheridge poster in her bedroom, tends to hug her cheerleading friends a little too much, is a vegetarian, and doesn't enjoy kissing her football player boyfriend. So to Meghan's indignation, she is sent to True Directions, a camp with a four-week program designed to turn any young gay or lesbian who has "gone astray" back on to the straight path. The misadventures that follow bring Meghan to a point of self-discovery. Inevitably, like in any good coming-of-age story, the characters must decide whether to do what is expected of them, or to be true to themselves and do what is right for them. First off, it must be said that the humour in the film DOES rely heavily on the stereotypes that it appears to deconstruct; there's the typical "butch" lesbian, the goth girl, and the musical theatre-loving gay guy. But it's a SATIRICAL comedy, so that's kind of the point! It is amusing all the same, and the movie ultimately has a good message of loving yourself for who you are. The casting is excellent; Natasha Lyonne and Clea Duvall are very convincing as a lesbian couple, and the supporting cast, including Cathy Moriarty, is great as well. The soundtrack is fun and upbeat. The copy I ordered from Amazon was delivered promptly. The ONLY thing I would point out is with the particular seller I bought from, they only bubble-wrapped one side of the DVD, and hence when it arrived one side of the movie case was slightly bent. The disc still played perfectly, and this is the first time I've ever received a DVD like that from Amazon (and I've ordered a lot of DVDs from Amazon!), but I figured it was worth mentioning. Overall, I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a cute, romantic, feel-good kind of movie!

A good chick flick, as far as chick flicks go., Jan 23 2011
I'm a little biased, because Kevin Kline can do no wrong in my eyes! Kline actually pulls off a decent French accent (albeit a Hollywood French kind of accent), and Meg Ryan is her cute and perky self as always. I agree with other reviewers that perhaps she tries to be too cute, as if to balance out Kevin Kline's performance. But all in all, I found this cute little chick flick very funny and enjoyable :)

Yuck., Oct 26 2010
Corny dialogue, over-the-top romantic scenes, mediocre acting, William Holden - this movie embodies everything that could go wrong in a 50's movie. The only thing that saves this movie from total destruction is Audrey Hepburn, who is lovely as usual.

An awesome workout, but really boring!, Aug 24 2010
There is no doubt that this DVD contains three hardcore workouts (like Jillian says, "results don't come free"), but I just found the workouts SO BORING! In Level 1, you begin by rotating a system of pushups and squat-n-press; it gets very tedious, very quickly. If you're a person like me who's not really into exercise, but wants to be in shape, I recommend other DVD workouts like Turbo Jam, the Crunch series or the SELF series. These are much more engaging and fun. If you're really into fitness and like doing pushups, this DVD is for you.

Such an adorable movie!, Aug 23 2010
In & Out is one of my favourites, with an all-star cast that includes Kevin Kline, Tom Selleck, Debbie Reynolds, Joan Cusack and Matt Dillon. Hilarious at some points, and really touching at others.

Beautiful, beautiful portrayal of a classic novel, Aug 23 2010
There are not enough words to describe how much I love this version of Jane Eyre! Jane Eyre is a beautiful novel (my favourite!), and they certainly do it justice here. It is PERFECTLY cast, with Ruth Wilson portraying the quiet but passionate, strong, independent and intelligent Jane, while Toby Stephens is dark, mysterious, funny and even sexy as Mr Rochester. Their chemistry is truly amazing. Very, very well done.

Funny Face is Overrated, Aug 23 2010
I enjoyed this movie, but the music is not really to my taste. There ARE some cute scenes, but I still can't get over the age difference between Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire- Fred Astaire was 58 years old at the time, and I feel he was only cast in this movie because of his dancing skills (which ARE impressive, as exemplified in several scenes). He was far too old to play Audrey Hepburn's love interest, and this gets in the way of enjoying the "romantic" scenes in the movie. His acting wasn't so stellar either. Audrey, however, is charming as always :)

Love it!, Aug 23 2010
This is a fun and girly workout! A little girly, because it contains a set of ballet-inspired moves :) I'm actually dripping sweat by the end of it. It includes extra fitness and diet tips at the end of the workout, which are actually quite informative and useful. The instructor is helpful and encouraging, but not overbearing or annoying. I can see that doing it everyday might get a little boring, as the DVD only contains one workout; I like rotating this with other workouts throughout the week. I highly recommend this DVD!

Repo!, Aug 23 2010
Love, love, LOVE this film! Catchy songs, good acting, original story line... even Paris Hilton delivers a great performance. AWESOME singing from all cast members, especially Terrance Zdunich (who co-wrote all of the music and illustrated the animation sequences in the movie as well), Anthony Stewart Head, Alexa Vega and of course, the legendary Sarah Brightman. Warning: Things get a little gory, but like in Sweeney Todd, the gore is so extensive it's satirical.

A good workout, but be careful not to hurt yourself!, Aug 23 2010
This is definitely a great workout and I can feel it the next day! Just be careful with the lunges...they go pretty fast and for myself personally, if I don't pay close attention to my form, my knees hurt the next day as well. The music sounds like something out of Mario Kart, but I usually just throw on my own music once I get into the workout. Plus, what's a workout DVD without corny music? All in all, a good workout with an enthusiastic instructor.
