Book of Stars, the
Book of Stars, the
VHS

2.0 out of 5 stars Depressing and predictable, Aug. 1 2001
This review is from: Book of Stars, the (VHS Tape)
The characters are cliched, the plot is obvious but Karl Geary is gorgeous and a fine actor (as usual).

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware....your brain my go into seizures to prevent exposure, Aug. 1 2001
This book and Hawke's writing ability are so awful that words do not yet exist to describe the horror. Human imagination has not sunk deep enough to incorporate the experience of this creation into common language. Nuclear proliferation and genocide are champagne picnics with a foot massage on a sunny day compared to reading this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Continues the plunge Pavement began with BTC, July 31 2001
This review is from: Stephen Malkmus (Audio CD)
If you like the direction Pavement went with BTC and TT then you'll like this album. In my opinion Pave created one of the greatest albums ever recorded with WZ then crashed. SM's solo effort wallows in the wreakage. The album is boring musically and the lyrics are just dumb. Don't believe all the critical praise heaped on this record. It is not innovative, clever or interesting. It is bland crap bordering on pretentious garbage. I gave it one star because Amazon won't let me give it zero.

The Wind Done Gone
The Wind Done Gone
by Alice Randall

2.0 out of 5 stars A very quick read, July 16 2001
This review is from: The Wind Done Gone (Hardcover)
It took me 4 to 5 hours to finish this book. The writing style is simple, the plot is thin and the characters are shallow and uncomplicated. Familiarity with GWTW is required since this book could not possibly stand on it's own. It is a vindictive answer to GWTW evidenced in Scarlet's demise and Rhett's emasculation, not a parody. I always considered GWTW silly and melodramatic so I eagerly anticipated this book knocking it down a few pegs. I was interested in another person's interpretation of GWTW, unfortunately the book itself is uninteresting.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are a pseudofeminist then this book is for you, July 16 2001
Before I read this book the complicated art of mixing drinks simply made my head spin. All those gadgets and gizmos, LORDY. Now I have it all...a career and the ability to please a house full of freeloaders while wearing heels and burning my bra.
