Plot good, main characters interesting, and story well told. I liked the fact that the victims were such mundane "City men" on the surface.

Charming and witty fragment ...interesting as a precursor to her novels and the photographs lovely and evocative of the times.

The production was excellent excerpt for the padding in Anthony Hopkins Hitchcock jowls getting in the way of clear articulation occasionally. Helen Mirren, of course, gave a very strong performance and the look back at Hitchcock movie history was pleasantly satisfying.

The plot, production values and performance were excellent. I would like to see the continuation of a sub plot with some non-disastrous romance for Pascoe. Dalziel does very well, thank you.

Having seen this series when it originally aired, I was afraid it wouldn't hold up and unfortunately, it doesn't. It has a certain charm and vitality due to these two accomplished actors, plus the main supporting male characters and the elegant New York settings of the time, but often the plot lines and car chases come off as cliched and lame.

This is a smart, sassy, wry, police procedure with a twist in that the special squad are all older, retired men headed by a strong, attractive policewoman trying to retrieve her career after a past mistake. They handle old unsolved or questionable cases. The joy is in the quirky characters, their interaction, the dialogue, and the well structured stories. The setting is just a few years ago, but here's nothing too distracting in this. In the league of "Inspector Frost", I've seen it twice now and could do so again.
