3.0 out of 5 stars A Perrfect Triple Combnation-Skating, Opposites, and Love, Dec 14 2002
This review is from: The Cutting Edge (VHS Tape)
In the Cutting Edge, two ex-Olympians get one more chance at the big time. Kate Mosley is a spoiled, tempermental skater whose dream of gold was shattered when she fell during her program at the '88 Olympics, and now because of her spoiled personality, she can't keep a partner. Doug Dorsey is an ex-hockey star who during the same event lost his dream when he injured his eye. When Doug finds out what sport he's competing in and later who his partner is, he's intially very reluctant, as is Kate, who can't believe how desperate her coach is to find her a partner that he would have her skate with a hockey player. As time goes on, however, they realize how good they are together and all looks well until they hit one more hurdle. On the night they qualify for the Qlympics, a drunken Kate decides to make her skating partner her sexual partner. But because she's drunk, Doug won't give in to her advances, which makes her angry. Add that to the fact, they've both fallen for each other, and Doug knows the real reason she lost last time. Can this unlikely couple of skaters and now lovers win the Nationals and keep their careers and affections intact? Give this a rent and see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Barbara Bach-Best Bond Girl Except Sophie Marceau!!!, June 25 2002
This review is from: Spy Who Loved Me (VHS Tape)
The Spy Who Loved Me is the best Bond movie ever made other than The World Is Not Enough, and that's only because Sophie Marceau is a million times sexier than Barbara Bach. The part that really got me was that Anya would seduce the man who previously killed her lover. Great effects, Great gadgets, More than worth a rent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Smash!!!, June 11 2002
In his long career, we've seen Eddie Murphy in many roles, from cop to crook to royality. In the Distinguished Gentleman, however, we see him in a different role: politician. In the Distinguished Gentleman, Murphy is Thomas Jefferson Johnson, a small-time con man who wants big money...
This movie is a great example of just how... Washington politics is. Murphy comes out well in his preformance. A much better con man preformance than Trading Places. If you're looking to know just how...our system is, give this movie a rent, then you be the judge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch Out, These Klowns Have A License To Kill!!, June 1 2002
Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a horror movie with a comedic twist. In one night, the small California town of Crescent Cove is terrorized by the Killer Klowns, an alien race of literal bloodsuckers from another planet. First seen at the Top of the World, a makeout hangout, by two lovers, Mike and Debbie, they decide to investigate the Klowns' circus tent spaceship. When they find that Joe Lombardo, one of Mike's friends, suffocated and cotton candy cocconed, was a victim of the Klowns' handiwork, they become a target, as does the rest of the town. A rookie cop becomes a believer in the Klowns only when he finds that everyone at the Top of the World has been killed by them, and later when he finds the body of a fellow officer and firm disbeliever in the Klowns, choked to death. Can the Klowns' murderous rampage be stopped before it's too late? Watch and find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sinise's Third Best Only To Truman and Forrest Gump!!!, May 31 2002
This review is from: George Wallace (VHS Tape)
Gary Sinise steals the show in George Wallace, the TNT documentary made about the three-time governor of Alabama and four-time presidential candidate. I honestly think Angelina Jolie, not Mare Winningham, should of gotten the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie. Winningham is a fine actress and portrayed her character well, but I thought she was rather drab. When Jolie takes over as the second Mrs. Wallace, she delivers her role with much more conviction and flare. Of course though, Sinise is the best actor in the cast and is most deserving of the award he got for Best Actor. Sinise's best role in my opinion, as you can likely guess from my review title, is his role in Truman, followed in a close second by his Lieutenant Dan portrayal in Forrest Gump, but this movie was a just as close third. I read one review of this movie which said the reviewer would have liked to see more about Wallace's 1968 campaign for President. I personally would have liked to see more about his '64 and '76 presidential bids because they have more historical signficance, being that his '64 run took place during the most controversial time in his career, the Civil Rights Movement, and it was his first presidential campaign. And I would have liked to see more of his 1976 run because he did best as a candidate. And, as history itself and the movie both dictate, people seem to forget that when Wallace became a segregationist, he was very much reluctantly drawn into it by the Ku Klux Klan, rather than he was always one as most everyone who knows of him thinks. I think this point to his character should have been better addressed. Besides these small flaws, the movie was great overall. I also found something in common between this movie and Forrest Gump. In both, Sinise plays characters who are marred by physical trauma, and both characters have some very negative things to say about their conditions. As I said earlier, this movie is great overall and well worth watching especially if you are a history/political buff. Get it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Jim Carrey's First Movie And It's Great!!!, May 27 2002
This review is from: Once Bitten (VHS Tape)
This movie is a wonderful example of just how dangerously great a mixture comedy and horror can make. It's also the first movie for each of the the two leading stars, now-famous Hollywood actor Jim Carrey and already-famous Playboy legend Lauren Hutton. In the movie, Hutton plays the sexy and seductive Countess, a female bloodsucker who needs three transfusions of vrigin blood by Halloween Eve in order to avoid averting into her 390-year-old self. However, she has two problems. First, she lives in Hollywood, where vrigins are in very short supply. Second, Halloween is only a week away. When all hope seems lost, she meets Mark Kendall(Carrey, a teeenager who wants sex with his girlfriend, Robin, more than anything else. When a drunken Mark engages in a supposed one night stand with Countess at her mansion and Robin finds out about it, it appears that their relationship is finished. But luckliy for both of them, she gives him another chance. When Countess, who already has two transfusions on Mark, tries to get the final one at a high school dance, fails, and then traps Mark using Robin as bait, Robin finds out just how far Countess is willing to go to get what she wants. When Countess is only a split second away from biting the captive Mark for the final time, Robin intervines and saves him. After a chase through the confines of her mansion, Countess finds Mark and Robin having sex in what was to be his coffin. When midnight strikes, she ages to her old self. We taped Once Bitten off Home Box Office in 1987, and over the past fourteen years, it still ranks among my favorite movies. I especially like it because unlike so many vampire movies i've seen, the sexest tradition of strictly males as vampires is lifted when Lauren Hutton undertakes the role of the Countess. If you're a fan of horror who happens to be looking for a scary movie and one of comedy as well, this is by far your best bet.

Leslie Nielsen is back in action in this near-great movie. It's his only movie i've seen other than Dracula Dead And Loving It where Nielsen is not a lawman. In the Naked Gun Series, he's Frank Drebin, a Los Angeles cop. In Spy Hard, he's Richard Steele, a retired government agent. In 2001 A Space Travesty, he's Richard Dix, a United States Marshal. In this movie, however, he's Ryan Harrison, a renowned violinist and womanizer. The movie begins with one of his concert performances, which is sponsored by Hibbing Goodhue, a millioniare tycoon. His wife, Lauren, and her "sister", Cass Lake, both fall for him on the spot. When Hibbing goes away on a trip, Lauren takes the opportutinty to have sex with Harrison, but he refuses her advances. Anger with him as well as her desire to conceal her involvement in a terrorist plot to asassainate the United Nations Secretary General, as well as her husband's knowledge of it, induces her to kill him. After she does it, to avoid being accused herself, she lures Harrison to the house after one of his concerts. When he arrives, her terrorist partners knock him out to make sure he's there when the cops arrive. When he wakes up with two guns at his side, he's arrested by United States Marshals. At trial, he's convicted of murder and sentenced to literal execution(electrocution, lethal injection, and killing by a firing squad all in one). On the way to Death Row, however, his prison bus collides with a train and crashes, which leads to his escape and hillarious qwest to find the real killer. Well, I think I gave out too much, so just give it a look. It's more than worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mel Brooks's Best Movie!!!, April 23 2002
This review is from: Spaceballs (VHS Tape)
Spaceballs is by far the best Mel Brooks movie I've seen. The movie begins with Princess Vespa of Planet Druidia, being forced to marry a clutzy, inenpt prince named Vallum. Vespa doesn't love him, but he's the last prince in the galaxy. To avoid the marriage, Vespa and her servant droid, Dot Matrix, escape in her Mercedes space car and hide out. Meanwhile, the ruthless Spaceballs are out to get every breath of air from Planet Druidia, so they decide to kidnap Vespa and hold her as a bargaining chip to convince her father, King Roland, to give them the combination to the sheild that stores their air. To find her, Roland calls on a space pirate named Lone Starr, who at first refuses because he's number one on the hit list of Dark Helmet, leader of the Spaceballs. But then Lone Starr remembers he owes money to Pizza the Hut, a notorious gangster made of pizza. When Roland agrees to give him one million Spacebucks in exchange for his daughter's safe return, Lone Starr is out to find her. When he does, it's obivous the princess and pirate don't get along. However, when his Winebago camper spaceship crashes on a desert moon called Vega, they get closer, and Lone Starr tells her the story of his life, which begins with his parents leaving him at a monestary, where the monks took a vow of silence not to tell him about them. His only clue is a medalion he wears around his neck, which he's taken to every wise man in the universe, but none of them could tell him what it meant, which leads them to a know-it-all named Yogurt, who is also the keeper of a great power called the Schwartz. Meanwhile, the Spaceballs intercept Vespa and take her back to Planet Spaceball, home of the Spaceballs. King Roland finally gives them the combination to the sheild. and by turning their flagship, Spaceball One, into a statue with a vacaum cleaner called Megamaid, they start stealing air. Lone Starr finds them, which leads to a Schartz battle with Dark Helmet, which in turn leads to the ship's demise. Vespa is brought back to Druidia, where Lone Starr turns down his reward. Just when it seems Vespa will be forced to finally marry Vallum, Lone Starr, now found to be a prince himself, shows up to save the day. I'll end this by saying if you're a fan of space movies and are looking for a funny one, this is the one to buy or rent. You'll be more than glad you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Naked Gun-Nielsen's Second Debut To Spoof, and it Rocks!, April 19 2002
This review is from: Naked Gun (VHS Tape)
When this movie came out, I think most people who knew who Leslie Nielsen was were thinking they'd seen him in just about everything. First, serious movies, then Hitchcock, then Airplane. Then they saw him for the comic geinus he was in this movie. Nielsen plays Frank Drebin, a Los Angeles cop known for his stpidity, his big mouth, and his all around good record. After returning from vacation in Beirut, he investigates the shooting of his ex-partner and best friend, Nordberg, which after an argument with a Drebin-hating dock worker, leads him to respected shipping kingpin Vincent Lidwig, as well as his female assistant, Jane Spencer, who has a romataic thing for cops. From the first, they fall for each other, even going so far as having sex in body condoms. His investigation stalls, however, when the mayor gets upset over Drebin entering Ludwig's place without a warrant and then repremands him over a year-old incident in which he mistook five actors for would-be killers and shot and killed them. After a few more complications, including losing his badge after making fools of the mayor and Queen Elizabeth II, who Ludwig plans to asassainate, at a party, Drebin catches up with him, thanks to a tip from Jane, at an Angels baseball game, where he brainwashes baseball legend Reggie Jackson to kill the Queen. If you like spoofs, this is one for the ages and nore than worth a rent.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Eastwood's Best!!!, Jan. 26 2002
This review is from: Space Cowboys (DVD)
Clint Eastwood has always been a great actor and director. And Space Cowboys is no exception. It is actually a change for Eastwood, who has done mostly westerns in his career. Space Cowboys tells the story of Frank Corbin(Eastwood), "Hawk" Hawkins(Tommy Lee Jones), "Tank" Sullivan(James Garner), and Jerry O'Neil(Donald Sutherland), four retired Air Force pilots who in 1958 were destined to be the first Americans in space. But our contury had other plans, sending a monkey instead, which infuriates Corbin, for he knows why the monkey was sent. Corbin and his commanding officer, Major Bob Greason(James Cromwell), don't get along and Greason wants to see his career go up in flames. Now forty-two years later, a Russian communication satlette, armed with the stolen and now obsolele guidance system from Skylab which Corbin designed, has fallen out of its orbit and is on a crash course with Earth. Since according to the Russians, its destruction is not an option, a rescue attempt must be undertaken and Frank is the only man for the job. But the man who runs the space program happens to be the same man who ruined him forty-two years ago. Well, i don't want to give the whole plot away so nekt time you rent a movie, give this a rent. It will be well worth your investment.
