Graphic Design for Fashion - some wrinkles, May 24 2011
For young designers that are interested in the ever-changing world of fashion graphic design - this book is truly interesting. There are some interesting projects presented here and it certainly highlights some of the new young talent out there. But it is also obvious that it falls short in its overall view of this particular field. The intro says that it displays "the world's leading graphic designers", which obviously is incomplete as some of the most infamous designers in the fashion business are absent, along with various fashion brands that lead the innovative path (no Jean Paul Gaultier, no Chanel, no Louis Vitton etc). So it is clear that the editors were onto a different idea - a sort of collection of "innovative" graphic design in fashion, but not a wide panoramic view of the field, which would have been nice. So I think the title can be misleading. Perhaps a subtitle could have clarified the true intent of this book. But overall a wonderful book with very nice reproductions.
