Converted me, Dec 20 2002
As I was studying the history of the LDS church with the intent to join but needing to understand more, my friend gave me Vol 1, Pillar of Light. I read it Xmas day, then asked for the rest. I read straight thru, loved the family, laughed and cried with them, stuck with Joshua til he found the way, cried when Benjamin died. I owe Gerald Lund a debt of gratitude, thanks to these books, I joined the church and am happier than I have ever been in my life.

Great Book, Sep 1 2001
As usual Sandra Brown produced a page turner, you will not want to put down. As usual, you think you have figured out the plot and the ending but it changes as she goes along. The grand finale was a surprise but not a surprise. this is one author that I buy sight unseen and have not been disappointed yet.

did Cook really write this book, Sep 1 2001
I own and have read every one of Robin Cook's books, some several times. They are riveting, exciting and well written. With Shock, I was in shock. Here are two female post grads from Harvard, no less, with newly acquired Doctorates in Economics and Microbiology. Then in comes Laverne & Shirley. How Cook expected to pass this off as a well written mystery beats me, the two girls giggled, argued, made a mockery out of average intelligence(to wit, the first and only day on the job, like no one noticed they took 1/2 hour breaks every hour, met at the water fountain and disappeared with no notice) and it was supposed to be a medical mystery. The only mystery is how he managed to keep a straight face as he wrote it. Would not recommend it at all. Unless you get it free or on loan, but remember, I told you so.

Excellent Reading, Aug 17 2001
I got hooked on Clive Cussler years ago and have collected all of his books. I have never been disappointed and this one I think is the best. He brings back Dirk Pitt admitting that he is getting older and less agile but manages to bring three plots together into one and hold your interest. My son objects to Clive Cussler doing a cameo appearance in each book as self-aggrandizing but I think it is sort of interesting (i.e. alfred hitchcock). This book brought Clive in for a whole chapter taking an active part in a rescue. Could have been anyone with a high tech yacht doing it. If you haven't read the book yet, I won't spoil the ending but was startled myself and see that the saga will continue. Am really looking forward to the next episode and anxious to see how Cussler works in the new characters.

freedman blew it this time, Aug 17 2001
This book is probably one of the worst i have ever read. I have all of Freedman's books in my collection and bought this one blindly. The plot is well thought out, though already used a lot, but fleshing it out was lost in the drinking, sex and foul language. I normally would put a book down and kiss of the author after a couple of chapters with the language alone but i plowed thru to the end thinking it had to get better but it didn't. I would not recommend this book to anyone. I especially did not like his mother (who did nothing wrong in the whole book) getting killed just to keep the story going. Bad Bad Bad book karen nelson

most excellent one yet, July 9 2001
I have purchased and stocked in my library all of the nina reilly books and this one is by far the best. It holds together, skips the boring and mundane, great dialogue and action. would recommend it over all the rest.

Disappointed, Jun 30 2001
I have read all of martini's books and enjoyed all of them. This one left me waiting for something to happen. The title, "The Jury", oh well, where did that come from. The books was indeed about a murder trial, but the jury was definitely NOT in the plot. they never appeared except to enter and leave the jury box maybe twice in the whole book. It was short, predictable and not worth the money. will be careful before I purchase another one of his.

She should have stuck to being a coroner, Feb 11 1999
Both my mother and I are avid readers of Patrica Cornwell, but this book literally stinks. Mom brought it back after 3 chapters and said, the language is atrociously filthy and the story is lost somewhere. I poo pooed her and started it myself, I got several chapters beyond her 3 and gave up. I read an average of 6-8 books a week, mostly hardback fiction and when I give up and close a book 1/3 of the way through, it has to be bad. she made an issue of changing her style to get away from the medical/coroner subject but she failed miserably. Patricia, go back to what you do best, and I may buy your next book.
