Well done!, Oct 1 2008
Very well written and researched. This book is full of rare and interesting pitures and information about this icon of rail travel in the seventies. A real treat for railfans. The author's company, Rapido Trains Inc. also makes HO scale models trains of the Turbotrain. Rapido is listed as one of the fasted growing companies in Canada.

For pigeons only, Sep 26 2008
You must be kidding - $75 for three albums and a small booklet?!?!?!! This has to go down as the most overpriced and unoriginal box set of all time. Did I hear someone say 'Bend over'?

Another box set in the wall, Aug 12 2008
It may be the worst named box set in history, but it does what it sets out to do - deliver authentic minature reproductions of every Pink Floyd album. It is nothing short of beautiful in its presentation, and the quality is as good as I've ever heard. Yes the industry is shameful for taking advatage of we the listeners with yet another hyped up box set that would cost far less if one were to buy each album individually, but the LP style sleeves are a work of art themselves. So relax, enjoy and have a cigar. For years I have wanted to crown the music industry - they should have made CD's come in LP sleeves right from the start. P.S. The poster is very cool too.

No 'fault' here, Aug 9 2008
Excellent! One of Winchester's best works. This man researches his topics thoroughly. His style is dry English, yet it comes but very creative and entertaining. He delivers an immensely interesting read. Seems to have a nack for these subjects that time has forgotten, but were once events bigger than 9/11.

Not just another marketing scam, Mar 21 2006
There will likely be those who bash this compelation, however I am most impressed with it. I have been buying box sets for decades, and this one is certainly not to be schluffed off. Of course there are always those who critisize box sets - it's the nature of the things. Everyone has their preferences as to what songs they would like included. Many consider them nothing more than glorified greatest hits. It is however the packaging and inclusion of rare material that makes a box set worth its price. This one has certainly been carefully thought out, including a few (but not too many) rare and unreleased tracks and bonuses. The overall song selection here is a well rounded look at the band's incredible career. Four disks of songs (81 tracks) does a very nice job of it - not too many, not too few. If you feel it's not enough, then you would better off buying the band's entire library. The fifth disk (DVD) is excellent. It has 19 tracks, some apparently bootleg live footage shot with a camcorder (but really cool to watch), some TV appearances, and a couple of videos. As for the packaging, it's in the book style. It includes an excellent booklet full of photos, a thorough history of the band, as well as a write-up about the story of each song in the set. The disks are housed in sturdy cardboard sleeves hinged into the book, not built into the covers like so many other book style sets (they always seem to fall out too easily). Also included is an very intricate poster. In my opinion, and bear in mind it is only 'my' opinion, unless you are a rabid Pretenders fans and absolutely must have everything they ever touched of breathed on, you will find this well worth purchasing. If you've read this far, I assume you are seriosly considering purchasing it and wondering if it is worth it's money. My answer? Yes. Most definetly.

A Must Hear, Oct 19 2005
This has to be the best album by Nick Cave to date. I had approached him with caution in the past, as his music can be quite frankly, depressing, however I had no trouble loving this one. It is very approachable. If you are checking him out for the first time, this would be a good place to start.

Bruno Ganz is incredible!, Sep 5 2005
Quite simply, this movie is essential viewing for anyone interested in WWII. Bruno Ganz is one of Switzerland's finest actors, so convincing in this role as Hitler, that after a few minutes into the film you would swear you are watching the real fuhrer. The film has stirred up contraversy because it shows Hitler for the man he was, both the insane, obsessed madman and the soft hearted gentleman he was to his non-military staff. The movie is a chilling insight into the Nazi mind, and shows a perspective never seen before. It does stick to the truth, at least as told by Hitler's last secretary who spent the last few weeks with him. Excellent! P.S. - The film is in German and subtitled, but still well worth it.

Astounding!, Feb 27 2005
This is a film so highly creative and unique, it draws you in and captivates you from start to finish, then leaves you feeling as though you have just witnessed something revolutionary in the film industry. At a glance it looks to be a remake of an older French animation film, however it is new (2003), and French-Canadian writer/director Sylvain Chomet uses this unique, comical and exagerated 1930-ish cartoon style to perfection. The story itself is equally entertaining. If you don't "parlez vous Francais", don't worry - there are only about 10 words spoken in the entire film. It is a visual masterpiece!

Best yet, May 13 2004
Okay, these guys aren't for everyone, as you can see by some of the butthead reviews, but generally if you liked 80's pop, the good stuff that is, and instrumental synth bands like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, you should give them a try. In my opinion this is their strongest offing yet. Especially loved "White Rhino" and "Washington DC".
