poor presentation, July 29 2003
while 'shanghai surprise' doesn't live down to its reputation as a complete waste of celluloid, this dvd presentation leaves much to be desired. not so much as a trailer, and FULL-SCREEN presentation?!

intoxicating perfection..., Aug 16 2002
i loved loved LOVED imogen heap's cd, 'i megaphone', and became discouraged when it appeared that she wouldn't be making another cd. but i heard about this project at least a year ago, and have been eagerly awaiting it. this cd was worth every minute of that wait--it's the stuff dreams are made of. gorgeous music matches her even-more-gorgeous voice beat for beat. looking forward to many more collaborations between imogen and guy sigsworth...

beautiful..., Oct 9 2001
this disc was a happy accident; i found it after seeing a print ad and thought i'd give it a shot. i'd venture to guess the entire album is excellent, though i can't say for sure, as i've thus far only heard half of it. i keep going back to the first few songs, each of which is more beautiful then the previous. this music is gorgeous...

the bitch is back--and it couldn't be sooner, July 7 2000
almost as good as seeing her live, this has all the best bits of the show plus a half hour of extras, all as hilarious as the original content.

sandra's best show, July 7 2000
this album is the next best thing to watching her dvd or seeing the live show, which i've also done...it's sandra at her bitchiest and most scathing, which also means it's her at her funniest.

heaven in a box, Jun 29 2000
lush, poetic, ethereal, beautiful music. from her first album through to her most recent, this is siberry at her best.

the best beth there is, Jun 29 2000
i found this disc in a promo box where i worked months before it was released. i popped it in my cd player, and have rarely taken it out since. as much as i like her follow-up, 'central reservation', this is miles beyond that, in my opinion. every track is a new experience, linked only by beth's exquisite voice.

finally--free of annoying dj banter!, Nov 4 1999
finally we're getting high-quality versions of madonna's post-immaculate videos. finally we get to witness the brilliant cinematography of 'i want you' (oh, wait, that was axed), 'deeper and deeper' (oops, didn't make the cut), and 'you'll see' (wrong again--is a trend developing?)...okay, okay, they're brilliant, and they were left off the video for less-than-brilliant stuff like 'beautiful stranger' and 'love don't live here anymore'. but at least they didn't cut 'bad girl', which by itself is worth the price of the collection (i consider it the best short music video ever). and, along with 'bedtime story' and 'human nature', at least you have some of madonna's best eye-candy to keep yourself occupied...

one of my all-time favorites, May 21 1999
several years ago when i worked in a music store we got a promo in of this disc. initially i listened to it only because the disc looked interesting; i hadn't heard of lori. but i trusted my instincts (which have also worked for liz phair and sarah mclachlan, among other), and from the first listening i new i had hit a goldmine. "where it goes" is undoubtedly one of the saddest albums i've ever heard. it's also easily one of the best. this cd goes perfectly with a rainy day and a glass of wine.
