5.0 out of 5 stars A Highly Recommended Book on Web Design with CSS/HTML, Nov 19 2008
One good book, straight to the point and yet easy to understand. The author certainly exhibits some strong pedagogical skills and he does a fantastic job at integrating various technologies under one roof. Each of the ten chapters and six appendices focus on one aspect and is illustrated by lots of practical examples that could be reused almost as is in your own projects. The author's decision to avoid any reference to web design applications is a smart one. Not only does it allow him to focus on the very foundations of Web design but also to be relevant to a wider audience, both in terms of platform and level. With lots of tips, plenty of warnings, and an emphasis on standards and industry best practices, this book is like having a private web design instructor. Highly recommended.

Ready-to-Run Delphi® 3.0 Algorithms
Ready-to-Run Delphi® 3.0 Algorithms

1.0 out of 5 stars A very deceiving book, Sep 7 2001
Having read excellent John Wiley books in the past, I had great expectations from Ready-to-Run Delphi 3.0 Algorithms. Unfortunately, this book is far from being a good book. First of all, the author, Rod Stephens, is not a Delphi programmer. He merely ported, or more precisely attempted to port, one of his previous Visual Basic books to Delphi. Several Delphi code listings contain code that is... Visual Basic code!

Furthermore, the title is totally inappropriate: none of the supplied code is "ready-to-run." In part because it contains too many errors, but more importantly because the sample code is too academic to be really useful in a real life application.

Do not waste your money on this title.

Tomes of Delphi: Alogrithm and Data Structure with CDROM
Tomes of Delphi: Alogrithm and Data Structure with CDROM

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have book on algorithms!, July 10 2001
I just received this morning the book "Algorithms and Data Structures" and could not take my eyes out of it! I skipped lunch and did not take any break today until now! This is the book on algorithms I have been looking for since my university days! Julian Bucknall is an extraordinary writer, one who knows how to turn complicated concepts into beautiful simplicity! I wish more authors would have published texts of that quality on Delphi topics; it would have dismissed the improper idea that Delphi is not a serious language and that it cannot be used in serious programming... A must for any serious Delphi programmer!
