Pat Benatar kicks ass!, Jun 5 2004
Pat Benatar is one of those really talented singers that combine grittiness, toughness, & innocence at the same time. And PRECIOUS TIME clearly brings out her talents to the forefront. A truly accomplished offering, PRECIOUS TIME combines the passionate vocals of Benatar along with the tight musical accompaniment of Neil Geraldo & company. THe title track & "Evil Genius" are just great examples of how great Benatar & the boys are. PRECIOUS TIME is pure magic.

Intense Is The Word That Describes This Album!, Jun 4 2004
MASTER OF REALITY is Black Sabbath's third album, & simply put, one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. This is one moment that everything came together for the band. Ozzy, while not a great technical singer, sounds amazing in this album. His vocals range from menacing (Lord of this World, After Forever, & Into the Void), to melancholy (Solitude). Tony Iommi's guitar playing is superb as always. Geezer Butler & Bill Ward's groundbreaking foundations in this album is amazing. Black Sabbath's musical output to the heavy metal genre is outstanding & with this album, it cemented their position as one of the icons of the genre.

A Great Sophomore Effort! A True Classic!, Jun 4 2004
SAD WINGS OF DESTINY is Judas Priest's second album, and one of heavy metal's true essential albums. Rob Halford's vocals is truly on forefront on this album, & KK Downing & Glenn Tipton's twin guitar attack is revolutionary. Blistering is the word that I can describe regarding this album. The album gives a true hint of what Judas Priest is capable of becoming. Judas Priest's second release is one of the true influential albums in the metal genre & the band is indeed one of the greatest acts of all time.

A Humble Debut, Jun 4 2004
Nazareth's debut album was a humble start from one of heavy metal's most underrated bands. The album offers a varied offering of songs that range from heavy metal (Witchdoctor Woman, Morning Dew) to the sublime (Red Light Lady). All in all, the debut album featured a band still trying to find its identity. A solid release from Nazareth.

Heaven & Hell-The Birth Of the Dio Era Sabbath, Jun 4 2004
Ronnie James Dio succeeded Ozzy Osbourne as the lead vocalist of Sabbath, & to everyone's surprise, Sabbath lost none of it's thunder. As a matter of fact, Sabbath actually became a better band for it. Dio's vocals added a new dimension to the band & gave them more of an aura of mystery. Dio is heavy metal's Maestro of the Heavy Metal voice par excellence. Tony Iommi, Bill Ward & Geezer Butler lost none of the power that made them great as part of heavy metal's most enduring bands. Iommi's guitar still sounded as potent as ever. HEAVEN & HELL is indeed a must-have for metal fans everywhere.

The Beginning of The Age of Sabbath, Jun 3 2004
BALCK SABBATH, the album started the legacy of one of heavy metal's legendary bands, Black Sabbath. I remember listening to this album for the first time. The title track scared the living hell out of me. BLACK SABBATH is the complete antithesis of the free love & hippie movement that was going on in the late 60s-early 70s. No one has ever played this heavy at that time. Led Zeppelin laid the groundwork of heavy metal, but Sabbath put the EVIL touch of darkness that would be synonymous with heavy metal in the years to come. Ozzy Osbourne was never a great vocalist, but his vocals were perfect for the music that Black Sabbath played. What he lacked in technical ability as a singer, he made up for it in attitude. Tony Iommi's guitar would send chills down your spine particularly in the song "A Bit of Finger". It's as if the gates of hell was opened & a scream from hell emananted from the very depths of hell itself. Geezer Butler's bass is superb & influential. You wanna start out listening to Sabbath, this is the perfect album to start out.

Soundgarden's Finest Hour, Jun 3 2004
BADMOTORFINGER simply ranks as one of the greatest heavy metal releases in the 90s. There are really no words for me to describe how great this album. Soundgarden combines the rawness of vintage 70s metal & adds their own unique touch to make this album an undisputed classic. Chris Cornell has never sounded better in this album. Shades of early Budgie & Sabbath influences are apparent in this album. BADMOTORFINGER is indeed a classic in the metal genre. PERIOD!

Undisputed Classic, Jun 3 2004
Before Metallica came to be, there was Diamond Head. And the album LIGHTNING TO THE NATIONS was the one that started it all. Diamond Head were one of the esteemed NWOBHM bands in the late 70s-early 80s that were influential in the heavy metal genre. LIGHTNING TO THE NATIONS featured great songs such as the title track, "Sucking My Love", "Helpless", & the classic "Am I Evil?" that Metallica covered in their GARAGE DAYS, Inc. Every metal fan MUST have this album.

Motorhead Kills With OVERKILL!, Jun 3 2004
Motorhead's release of OVERKILL, originally released in 1979, is a headbanging classic. Back in the late 70s, nobody, & I mean nobody was playing faster, thrashier, & more aggressive than Motorhead. Simply put, they helped re-invent the genre of heavy metal that was started in the early 70s with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, among others. Motorhead helped usher in a new subgenrte of heavy metal called thrash metal (aka speed metal). Motorhead helped usher in the NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL in the late 70s-early 80s. Lemmy Kilmister's trademark vocals & aggressive bass playing, along with the aggressive drumming of Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, & the thrasy manic guitars of "Fast" Eddie Clarke makes up the classic Motorhead line-up. OVERKILL is one of their accomplished releases in the early days of the band. THe band is in classic form on the title track, "Stay Clean", "(I Won't) Pay Your Price", & "No Class". OVERKILL is a great way for a new fan of heavy metal to be introduced to the legacy of Motorhead. Without Motorhead, there would be no Metallica, no Anthrax, & no Megadeth. Do yourself a favour & pick up this disk today!

Inconsistent, Yet Interesting, Jan 12 2004
SEASON OF THE WITCH (aka JACK'S WIFE aka HUNGRY WIVES) is a story of a bored housewife who finds fascination in the occult. All the while, she has been suffering from strange nightmares that would ultimately result in tragedy. SEASON OF THE WITCH is a rather interesting, yet inconsistent film by George Romero. While the idea of a bored housewife exploring the unknown is a quite novel one, the rest of the film is hampered by a low budget, amateurish acting, slow pacing, & very little shocks. I think Romero is trying to be personal in this film, but fails in some areas. His most personal film is MARTIN, but that's another review. Slow, ponderous, & sometimes comical, SEASON OF THE WITCH is an odd film in the George ROmero filmography. Even die-hard Romero fans would have trouble liking this film.
