4.0 out of 5 stars Remastered Better Than Original, Nov. 23 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The original record of this album sounded compressed and a little lifeless so I spent some money on Speakers Corner edition of this record. It was obvious to me that the the original paled in comparison. Much more dynamics and still something was lacking. It had a very detailed high end and more punch but the original recording was alas inconsistent. I also purchased the 2014 remaster of this album and this copy was also better than the original but different from the speakers corner version being slightly darker with less detail in the upper range while still delivering in the dynamics. Although darker I think I like this 2014 release better only because I hate bright recordings. still this is not a great recording but better than it used to be. The vinyl by the way on the new 2014 release is quite good not much surface noise to complain about.

4.0 out of 5 stars The New Sound ?, Nov. 16 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's funny how most music put out in the early 2000's had such a bright compressed sound and now we are in the 2010's and alot of recordings are more dynamic but now have switched to Darker sound which this is one. The symbols are a little too far in the background and sound muted instead of crisp. The rest of the sound is pretty good. The Vinyl is not bad but crackles and pops are present.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb !, Nov. 16 2013

This recording was very engaging. The sound I think is absolutely flawless. Mobile Fidelity has given it a little more on the bottom end which I thought was missing on the original release which was also very good. Quiet vinyl. A perfect Listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Album, Nov. 16 2013

Mobile Fidelity version is quite good. I think the only problem I had was probably a studio set up thing. The Drums didn't quite have the impact I was hoping for but shouldn't stop you from checking this out everything else is very good. Quiet vinyl and warm full sound.

This remaster of Glass Houses is very good. My original copy of this was good but lacked a little on the bottom end making the cymbals sound overpowering. Mobile fidelity solved this problem and the result is a siightly more rounded sound. Vinyl is nice and quiet. Good Job.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Little Dark, Aug. 16 2013

This is a good release the vinyl is a little noisy but not too bad. The sound itself is on the dark side. Cymbals and other high end instruments are lacking detail and a bit quiet. The low end however is great. Good enough to enjoy I recommend it.

This is a Music On Vinyl product although I am happy some of these older albums are being re-released on Vinyl, I wish they would take the opportunity to really put some full range in the sound for audiophiles. I think most if not all the releases from this company sound the same, very accurate very dynamic but they all lack lower extension which for me really makes the music come alive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Here We Go Again, June 8 2013

Before I get into the sound quality of the album I need to say this is a landmark album for the early 2000's. I loved this from start to finish. Now as for this release, the record company and SONY had a real opportunity here to release a quality vinyl product which was never released in this format before as far as I know. With all the great hype of Vinyl returning they should have known that this would be anticipated and will have a big response as to the sound quality. They failed miserably. Forget the stupid selling feature of Purple Vinyl. Are audiophiles that stupid? It is not on 180g viny only standard. It is not good vinyl quality, it has many pops and crackles for a new record. It is not very dynamic, as a matter of fact in my opinion the CD release from 2003 is actually slightly better with a little more impact and lower end extension. The people in charge of this 10 year celebration release should be ashamed of themselves. People who buy vinyl want a superior product with full dynamic range and all the extension that makes music engaging. They had a real opportunity here and they blew it big time. I do not reccomend buying this addition of this wonderful album. Hopefully in the future maybe Mobile Fidelity or another ensightful record company will release this album in it's full dynamic splendor.
