High Quality episodes. Poor Packaging., Mar 19 2004
The episodes look fabulous. They're in widescreen, and the picture quality is top notch. Unfortunately, there is a lack of extras. The only extra is an amusing blooper reel. There's no commentary and as mentioned, the Chicago spoof has been excised. This is a disappointing set considering how great the season four package was.

Fair presentation. Lousy Music, Mar 18 2004
The episodes look crisp and much better than most television shows on DVD. As on television, the quality of the show goes downhill with the episode "Crazy," but the previous episodes are some of the best television I've seen in years. The one major problem with the discs is the music. Most of the songs have been replaced with generic pop sounding songs that add nothing. A shame.

Great Movie. Lousy DVD., Feb 8 2004
This is one of the best screwball comedies, but Columbia has released an awful print of the film. There are even frames missing from the DVD. Not only does Columbia overcharge for their products, but they release hideous looking prints. The VHS video is better quality than this DVD.

Cybill Shepherd shines, Nov 18 2000
Cybilll Shepherd shines in this adaption of Henry James's story, "Daisy Miller." She gives an authentic performance as an American girl who is not wise to the ways of gentile society. You feel for her as she continues to make mistakes in this group of "aristocrats." Bogdanovich caputres the period remarkably well, and the cinematography is breathtaking. The Late Barry Brown, Cloris LEachman, Eileen Brennan and Mildred Natwick are on hand in supporting performances. This is an underrated gem that is ripe for discovery.

Decent Little Movie, Oct 31 2000
Billy Crudup plays a screw-up who comes back to town and wreaks havoc in the lives of his brother and his sister-in-law. Adrienne Shelly plays the wife, and there is real chemistry between Crudup and Shelly, and the resolution of the conflict between the brothers is very believable. The movie is very quiet and it has a way of speaking volumes without having much said on the screen. This is a low-budget film that relies on characters to drive the story instead of quirky personality traits. You won't be disappointed if you like character-driven drama. The only quibble is why the handsome Billy Crudup insists on playing roles where he is perpetually unkempt.

A Bore, Oct 30 2000
Sometimes fantasies go too far. I wish this movie had gone too far. Instead, it's a predictable murder mystery. In fact, there's no mystery. If you can't figure out who did it, you should not be allowed out of your house. The sex scenes are not sexy, erotic or titillating. The movie is just plain boring. You want a sex movie to arouse you. This just made me yawn. Besides, who wants David Caruso to star in a sex movie?

Great Dance Sequences, Oct 30 2000
Great Dance sequences overcome weak script. The acting is solid for the most part, but Donna Murphy as a dance instructor steals the movie. The dance sequences are well choreographed and directed. If you love dancing, this is the movie for you.

UGH, Oct 29 2000
Sharon Stone can act so it's disheartening to see her talent going to waste in this low rent follow-up to Basic Instinct. She plays a divorced editor who moves in to an apartment where the former resident had been pushed to her death. Who killed her? Was it the mysterious author? Or was it the mysterious man with a penchant for voyeurism? When you see this movie, you'll be saying to yourself, "Who cares?" The mystery is no mystery. The plot is so full of holes that you can't imagine they actually thought they were going to get away with it. The sex scenes are not hot or sexy. If you want to see Billy Baldwin nude, rent this movie, but trust me, his body is not worth all the trouble. You've seen better bodies on Red Shoe Diaries. This movie is just a mess with two redeeming features: Sharon Stone and a great soundtrack. Carly's Song by Enigma is a particular joy.

An Absolute Joy, Oct 29 2000
This movie is charming from beginning to end. It has wonderful songs like "Oceannia Roll" and "Abba Dabba Honeymoon." Young Jane Powell and an even younger Debbie Reynolds perform magnificently. Ricardo Montalban is on hand to add class to the proceedings. This is an old-fashioned musical that classic film lovers will eat up!

An absolute delight, Oct 29 2000
This was my first introduction to Deanna Durbin, and what a place to start! The movie is fast-paced and witty with elements of musicals and mysteries thrown in for good measure. The movie is an absolute joy and Deanna Durbin shows why she was so popular.
