5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, Breath Taking, and Heart Wrenching, Oct. 18 2003
This is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen. Now, I was reading some of the reviews of this movie on IMDb and someone brought up how it tends to glorify the Japanese envolvment in the war. I totally disagree. Anyone who has seen this, and has not noticed how the country turned its back on these two children because it was to wrapped up in its honor will agree that this movie glorifies no one. Everyone is the villian here. Japan, America, Britain, and just war in general. No one is held up, instead, everyone is ripped apart, and shown for who they really are during times of war. Truelly amazing, and heart felt.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Should Have Gotten The Attention That Y Tu Mama Got, Oct. 3 2003
This review is from: Sex & Lucia [Import] (DVD)
This is such a good film. Just amazing. Somewhat shocking, very graphic, very sexual, very adult, and yet never to extreme. The sex is not there to just be sex. Its there to create relationships between characters, and show the various stages of love, sex, and relationships. A truelly great film, and just plain beautiful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gory, Gross, and... Romantic?, Sept. 2 2003
This review is from: Stacy (DVD)
I was suprised by this movie. I went in expecting total shlock, and I did get that, but I also got a rather nice movie. The gore is extreme, and the action almost non-stop. And there are zombies. Rather gross looking zombies. But that isn't the main draw to the movie... at least not for me. The main draw was that in all of this gore (which was enjoyable none the less) were characters. And characters who actually were likeable! These people are just that, people. And it shows that one of the greatest powers, that can even raise the dead, is love. Odd for a horror movie, but for some reason it works. And the thing is... it has a happy ending. Suprising I know. Not for everyone, but... if you are in the mood for something diffrent, something odd, than go for this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Little B-Thriller, Aug. 24 2003
This review is from: (DVD)
I was suprised by how good this movie was. Of course its far from high art, butit is even farther from the B movie soft core porn it looks like. Honestly, yes, there is a lot of cheesecake, mainly with the girls in their underwear, or a swim suit, or something of that nature, but actualy nudity? There is VERY little actual nudity. Acting wise, well, to say I was suprise is an understatement. Yes, there are those moments of bad dialogue and all that, but over all the cast did fairly well. Also the production values seem fairly high on this one. The picture is decent, and seems to be filmed, not taped. And the music is very good. Also the thriller part of the movie comes off very well due to the fact that the characters, although far from deep, are mostly likeable. I recomend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good! And Much Better Than Hamlet II, Aug. 22 2003
Ok, I picked this book up expecting a fairly stupid, quick read, and I ended up very pleasantly suprised. While Hamlet II was just a stupid slasher book that tried to modernize the original Hamlet story, this actually feels like more of a follow up to Midsummers Night's Dream. Yes, there are some similar plot points, but over all it feels more like a continuation, which Hamlet II never actually felt like. Also this book is much more readable, and accesible, than Hamlet II for many reasons. One, it has more of a sense of humor. The characters are a lot easier to take, ..., and the swearing is toned down a great deal. There is still violence, but not anywhere as grusome as Hamlet II. While I love gore as much as the next person I do have to say it felt out of place in a book that looked as if it was being written for a YA audience. This deffinatly feels more like a good YA book than Hamlet II. And why am I comparing this to Hamlet II the whole time. Well, because Hamlet II is the first book in the Bard's Blood series, and this is the second. Oh, and unlike Hamlet II, this has a happy, although somewhat twisted, ending. Deffinatly a good, quick read. The main reason I lowered the grade down from a five to a four is because of several spelling or grammer errors in the book. Stuff like this should be caught before the book is published, but none of the errors REALLY stand out, and over all... I highly recomend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not to Bad, But Doesn't Feel Like A Nightmare Movie, Aug. 19 2003
This movie REALLY did not feel like a Nightmare movie. Why? Well, where are the Nightmares? Everything is done while the lead actor is awake! And Freddy at times, feels like he could have just been written out of the plot completely and made this in to a good ol' haunted house movie. Another reason this movie doesn't really float is its pretty extreme homo-erotic edge. Yes, homo-erotic. Many scenes just seem to odd. Like the whole gym teacher side story (I could have done without the kinky S&M style death scene for him). Now all of this could have been harmless if it wasn't for one thing, and this one is major. The leads in the movie are... TERRIBLE! They over act horribly and just drag this through the soap opera mud! Many times I found myself laughing at how ridiculous some of the reactions where during the movie. Plus the movie lacked any real scares. As a normal movie... its watchable. As a Nightmare movie... its horrible. If you want to watch the series so that the stories connect, than skip this and go right to Dream Warriors. Its just a weak WEAK nightmare movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok Movie, But Mildly Decieving Towards The Books, Aug. 19 2003
The movie is fine. Its the usual Disney TV fair, and is fine for the whole family. The book series on the other hand... Well, first off this is not based off of Murder She Purred, but instead Rest in Pieces. Sounds like a slasher movie doesn't it? Well in the original story it almost was. The books are very violent (I believe the book version of this had a severed head in a jack o lantern) and deffinatly not for children.
Now I wouldn't have brought this up except for one small detail. At the end of the movie (at least when it was broadcast on TV) they plugged the books as family books! I mean Pawing Through the Past delt with gay rape, murder, and a transgender killer! The books are not for children, while this movie is. The movie is fine for kids, but keep them away from the books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie!, Aug. 13 2003
This review is from: Dirt Merchant (Widescreen) (DVD)
Ok, this has to be one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long LONG time. The cast was amazing (even Jenna Jameson does a good job with her part) and the writing was witty and quick. Plus the plot moves, all nudity and sex is handled tastefully (I honestly think there is only like ten seconds of actually nudity in the film, and most of the time it is hidden from view!). Plus the fact that Anthony Michael Hall has one of the best cameos in any movie, ever. Grab a copy soon. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars For A YA Novel... REALLY GOOD, June 21 2003
I was pleasently suprised by this book. The pace is fast, the murders are grusome, and it is just the right length. This is an ultimate YA novel in that it moves along quickly enough, but never treats the reader as a small child. While far from a literary classic, this book is a fun read, and something I as glad I got to check out. It only took me one night to get through, and it was a perfect bed time read. Now stop reading this and pick up a copy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book in the Senior Series, June 20 2003
This review is from: Fight, Team, Fight! (Paperback)
I read the Senior Series when it first came out (I think I was in junior high at the time, and now just graduated from High School) and the books still stick in my head. I remember this one because I had always been of Stine's Cheerleader books, and this one actually felt somewhat like those books. It had the great suspense, and gore of the first two books, and had a very likeable cast. The book is pretty darn violent, but nothing worse than what Stine normally write. I would read the series in order though, just because of the fact that you need to pay attention to who dies in what book.
