Inspiring and Entertaining, April 27 2012
I have been growing vegetables in my back yard for years, and reading Niki's book I feel inspired to step it up a notch and extend my short growing season into fall and beyond. This book has many layers of information for the beginning to advanced gardener. Niki lives and breathes gardening and her enthusiasm is infectious. Not afraid to admit her own past mistakes, Niki shows that anyone can "dig in" and produce tasty home vegetables with minimal investment, following some time-honoured principles and using materials at hand. I can't wait to harvest salad greens in the middle of next winter! You will not regret buying this book, even if you remain a summer gardener.

Disappointing!, April 16 2011
I own an aging previous model of HB espresso maker (Cappuccino Plus) and I hoped that this would be a suitable replacement or even an upgrade, but I was disappointed. The main problem is the filter basket, which is undersized. The instructions state that two tablespoons of ground coffee will make a double espresso, but the filter basket does not hold this amount! If I take a fully packed filter basket from the new machine and but the same coffee in the filter basket from my old machine, it fills it to halfway between 1 and 2, so the new basket is 25% undersized. Also, the frothing wand does not work nearly as well as the one on my old machine. On top of that, the footprint of the new machine is much larger. I am giving the unit 2 stars because the unit actually works if you are only going to make a single espresso, it is OK. But honestly, for less money you can buy the older HB model, which is still available, and is better! Hamilton Beach Cappuccino Plus Espresso MakerI really like my Cappuccino Plus and I am now going to buy a new one before they run out!

Very Nice for the Price, Dec 29 2009
This is a beautiful photographic atlas of the Moon, suitable for the lunar observer with binoculars or a telescope. The Moon is photographed at almost every day of its cycle, and on alternate photographs clear overlays identify principal features. It is no substitute for the cartographic atlas by Antonin Rukl, but that is now out of print. There are additional close-up views of lunar highlights, often under multiple lighting conditions.

An Album, not an Atlas, Dec 29 2009
I found this book disappointing and expensive. It is advertised as an atlas and a pocket field guide, but it is more of an album, as it covers only selected highlights of lunar features, not all the visible surface. I doubt his book would be of any use to anyone at the telescope. (It should have been spiral-bound for that.) The main photographs are good, considering they were all taken by the author with a refracting telescope of aperture only 6 inches; however the "exquisite" computer processed images are disappointing. The original photos were scanned and subjected to an intensity contour graph overlay that adds no information, does not represent topographic contours, and is aesthetically unpleasant (to my eye). It was an interesting project by the author, but it is not worth the price. I would certainly recommend looking at the book before buying. I had to send mine back!
