How to Confirm a Shipment

In your Seller Account, under Manage Orders:

  1. Click View your orders to find the order you want to confirm.
    Use the Search button, the Advanced Search link, or page through the orders.
  2. Click the Confirm Shipment button next to the order (or below the order if you are looking at an order detail page). 
    The Confirm Shipment page appears. (If you are shipping multiple packages for one order, see the next section below.)
  3. Select  the Ship Date and Carrier (such as Canada Post) from the drop-down lists.
  4. Enter the Shipping Service (such as UPS Ground) and the Tracking ID (supplied by the carrier).
    Note: When you provide a tracking number for a shipment, be sure to also enter at least the carrier's name (Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, etc.) in ship-method. For example, enter "UPS Ground" or "UPS," but not just "Ground." Without the carrier's name as part of the ship-method entry, the tracking button will not appear in the buyer's Amazon.ca account.
  5. Click the Confirm Shipment button.
    The shipment is now confirmed.
Note: When you confirm shipment of the first item in a multi-item order, we charge the buyer for the entire order at that time.

How to confirm shipment of multiple packages for one order

  1. After you click the Confirm Shipment button on the Manage Orders page (step 2 above), click the Add a Package button at the bottom of the Confirm Shipments page.
    A second package section appears.
  2. For the first package, use the Items in the Package drop-down menu to select the number of each item.
    The remaining items are automatically moved to the second package.
  3. Review the order and enter the information as described in steps 3 and 4 above.
  4. Click the Confirm Shipment button.
    The shipments are now confirmed.

If you have a Pro Merchant Subscription, you can also confirm shipment for multiple orders at the same time.

Confirm shipment within 30 days

You must confirm shipment of orders within 30 days of customers placing them. If you do not confirm shipment of an order within 30 days, we automatically cancel it. We do not charge the customer, and we do not credit your Marketplace Payments account for the order.

This means that if you ship an order but do not confirm the shipment within 30 days of the customer placing it, you will not be paid for the order.

We send notifications to you 3 days after the promised ship date, and 25 days after the order date, reminding you to confirm the shipment. After 30 days, we cancel the order and send you and the customer notifications to let you both know about the cancellation.

Our cancelling an order after 30 days is not meant to be a substitute for seller order management. Failing to confirm shipments (or not promptly cancelling orders you won't be shipping) can negatively impact your seller performance rating.

If you know you cannot fulfill an order, be sure to cancel it right away so we can notify the customer. It is important to show this consideration to customers so they can decide whether to find the item elsewhere. Customers who receive prompt notice of an order cancellation are also less likely to leave negative feedback for your account.

Buyer Notifications

We e-mail a shipping notification to the buyer as soon as you confirm the shipment as described above. We include all of the shipping information you provide, and we also post this information in the buyer's account. We don't want buyers to receive multiple shipping notifications, so it's important to leave the notification step to Amazon.
