Individual and Professional Selling PlansWhen you create your first listing and register to sell on Amazon.ca, you are also subscribing to our Individual selling plan. There are two selling plans available to Marketplace sellers: Individual, for sellers with only a few items to offer; and Professional (Pro Merchant) for experienced and volume sellers. Differences between Individual and Professional Selling Plans
The Individual selling plan is a pay-as-you-go plan that provides access to a basic set of listing and order management tools. While Professional sellers pay a monthly subscription fee of CDN$ 29.99, they also receive a waiver of the CDN$ 1.49 per-item fee when the item sells and can access additional tools for listing inventory and managing orders. The table below illustrates the differences between Individual and Professional selling plans.
For more information about fees for Marketplace selling, see Fees and Pricing. For detailed explanations of Professional features, see our pages on Experienced and Volume Selling. Upgrading Your Selling PlanAs your sales or inventory increase, you may question whether you should upgrade to the Professional selling plan. Here's a simple cost-benefits analysis that may help you decide if a CDN$ 29.99 subscription fee is worth it: 20 sales per month = 20 x CDN$ 1.49 fixed closing fee = $29.80. In addition to off-setting your subscription fee through the volume of your sales, you may also benefit from the bulk listing and order management tools available to Professional sellers. If you decide this is the right plan for you, here's how to upgrade your account:
After clicking the "Proceed to Upgrade" button, you see a message indicating that the upgrade process has begun. Your subscription to the new selling plan will begin immediately, and additional links to Professional seller tools will appear on your seller account page. Some billing features may take up to 30 minutes to become effective. Once the upgrade process is completed you will no longer be charged the CDN$ 1.49 per-item fee when your items sell. Switching Your Selling PlanIf you try the Professional plan but decide it is not the right plan for you, or if you no longer need access to Professional selling features, you can switch back to the Individual selling plan. To switch to an Individual selling plan, follow these steps:
When you switch your selling plan, your listings will remain active and available to buyers. Because your Professional selling plan subscription is billed at the beginning of each monthly cycle, your account and listings won't be switched immediately. Once your subscription cycle ends, the CDN$ 1.49 per-item fee will be assessed on each item sold. Billing for Selling PlansYour subscription is renewed each month based on your initial registration date. If you are an Individual seller, there is no monthly fee for your selling plan. You will only pay fees when sales are completed. However, since we treat each plan as a renewable monthly subscription, you will see a monthly subscription line item in the Payments pages of your seller account, but the amount will be CDN$ 0.00. Professional sellers are charged a monthly subscription fee of CDN$ 29.99. The first month's subscription fee will be debited to your seller account immediately. After that, the CDN$ 29.99 subscription fee will be debited to your Marketplace Payments account on each monthly renewal date. You can see the monthly subscription fee in the Payments pages of your seller account. |
