Overview

The Amazon Browser Bar is a free add-on for your browser (not all browsers or operating systems are currently supported). It comes with features (called apps) to help you search and comparison shop while surfing the web. It requires an Amazon account, and you need to be connected to the Internet for it to work correctly.

Apps

The Amazon Browser Bar comes with a variety of apps, each with a slightly different purpose. We may also add new apps to give you even more features.

Related Items App

The Related Items App uses the keywords you enter on certain websites, including major search engines, to search Amazon.ca. When it finds a match you'll see the Related Items button turn red. Click on the button to get Amazon.ca results for the keyword you are searching for.

When you're shopping online at other select retailers, the Related Items App will identify the product you're looking at and search for it on Amazon.ca. When the app finds a similar product on Amazon.ca it will list the price, rating, and availability of the item.

Universal Wish List App

Using the Universal Wish List App you can add items from any online store to your Amazon Wish List. When you see something you want, just click the "Wish List" button. When you reach a product detail page your Wish List button will turn red reminding you that there is a product on this page that can be added to your Wish List.

Best Sellers App

The Best Sellers App allows you to easily access Amazon.ca Best Sellers in various product categories. Just click on the Best Sellers button and start browsing. The green or red arrows inside the App indicate whether the product has moved up or down in sales rank.

Deals App

The Deals Store App takes you to the Amazon.ca Deals Store page.

Price Comparison App

While navigating over various websites on the internet, the Price Comparison App will search for product matches on Amazon. When the application finds a reasonable match, it will display an alert providing the product information, availability, Amazon price (whether it is lower or higher) as well as reviews, ratings and other possible matched products. The Price Comparison App simplifies online shopping by delivering all the information needed to make the best purchasing decision.

Amazon Web Search

Amazon Web Search provides you with web search results combined with Amazon information on products related to your searches. Or, you can also use several other popular search engines by using the drop down menu next to the search box. You can change your search choice each time you search.

Installing the Amazon Browser Bar

The current version of the Amazon Browser Bar is supported for the following browser and operating systems:

1. Firefox 3.6 and higher
2. Internet Explorer 8 and higher
3. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
4. Mac OS 10.5 and higher (Firefox only)

Uninstalling the Amazon Browser Bar

You can uninstall the Amazon Browser Bar from your computer at any time. Just follow the instructions for your browser listed below.

Firefox:

1. Open Firefox
2. Click "Tools" and then select "Add-ons"
3. Locate the "Amazon Browser Bar" and click "Uninstall" or "Remove"
4. Restart Firefox if prompted to do so

Internet Explorer:

1. Click on the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel"
2. Go to "Programs and Feature" (Windows 7) or "Add/Remove Programs" (Windows XP and Vista)
3. Select "Amazon Browser Bar" and click "Remove"
