This is an excellent resource for teachers of young students. The book is full of very cute songs and very easy activities that require little time and materials to prepare.
If you like to make your transition time easy and fun, you will find this to be a valuable book.

Robert Munsch is one of my favourite authors, but I think he really messed up in this book.
The idea of the book in fine, but I found it very disrespectful to picture a character who is calling her father a dirty rascal. I would not let my daughter read that book again.

This book is recently published, so the publisher "Stenhouse" has the whole book to read for free on their website.
I read the first 4 chapters, and the more I read the more I got that thought that I have to have this book in my personal collection.
This is a book that any teacher who works with small reading groups will benefit from. It tackles all the different areas of reading: Comprehension, phonics, fluency...etc.
It is very practical and has loads of sample lessons which could be easily adapted for your grade level.
