This is a book of real beading techniques, using authentic beading supplies to introduce the world of beads and jewelry-making to young teens. There are lots of projects to choose from, including necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, headbands, ponytail holder, hair clips, etc. Most of the projects use seed beads, but many other beads can be used, too. Techniques show beading on jewelry wire, memory wire, and thread, and the use of standard supplies and tools such as crimp beads, clasps, pliers, and wire cutters.

The very first impression I get when opening this book is "what pretty, artistic photos!" I think the beautiful photography steals the show in this book, which is meant to be an instructional book. The jewelry is also very nice, and probably looks even better because of the photographer's eye for arrangement, angle, lighting, soft focus, etc.

I definitely find inspiration in this book for creating the jewelry shown, and I like the variety of styles which look quite contemporary; not outdated. I'm a teacher, and have used Elements at home and school for a couple of years now. I have used it on PCs at school, and on my Mac system 9 and system 10.2 at home. It is wonderful on all of the platforms!

I taught a class of middle school students who speak little English to use this program to "play" with photos... changing colors, adding a background or a frame, giving photos effects, such as a painted look. They have used it also to modify artwork that they uploaded, then afterwards, they copied and pasted their art and photos into a school newspaper we created. They have done amazing things that makes them look like computer experts!
