Confident Color: An Artist's Guide To Harmony, Con&hellip by Nita Leland

Ms. Leland's ideas about colour systems (which I already do) and several different templates are good as well as the different suggested and illustrated colour palettes (traditional, high key, low intensity, etc.) especially from pages 76 to 103 - the only reason I kept the book. Otherwise most of the paintings shown are uninspiring except for a few, and I have seen colour theory and application much better shown in other books. This is really a beginner's or intermediate artist's book, if that. I first saw Dr. Hyman during PBS's fundraising drive. It was 4 in the morning and I had just gotten my mother back to sleep whom had Alzheimer's and other complicating health factors. The more information he laid out the more my skepticism faded into tacit agreement.

After myself having to have dealt with chronic illness for over a decade and a half, I had already come to some of the same understandings as Dr. Hyman. He further enlightened me as to some of the biochemical reasons for this. I knew what he… Read more
Oil Painters Solution Book Landscapes Xx Answers T&hellip by Elizabeth Tolley

If you are just starting in Oils or have been painting for awhile you will definitely benefit from this book. Elizabeth Tolley's style is just beautiful and she reveals a great deal about how she works in this magnificent medium. She is a landscape painter so all of the paintings shown are landscape and that is a definite bonus to all those who do landscape or want to see a master at work. She truly knows her medium. As an artist myself I admire her work. She's not an advanced amateur putting out a book to try to make some money. You can tell she's been doing this for awhile and truly wants to disclose some of those "secrets" that some artists, even though they put out a book, don't tell… Read more
