I think this is a truly exceptional documentary on many different levels. First, it tells the story of one of the best baseball players in history, who often goes unrecognized for his skills. I consider myself a big baseball fan, especially in the history of baseball and stars of the past. Yet before this movie, I knew very little about Hank Greenberg. Despite being one of the best hitters at that time, Greenberg isn't talked about very often. This DVD gets his story out, and shows how dominant of a ball player he was.

I am a Blues Traveler fan and I was eagerly anticipating something new from them before this came out. After listening to this many times, I was not disappointed. Although it is definately not as great as some of their previous albums, it has many good songs.

The highlight on the album is the tribute to J. Sheehan "Pretty Angry". The lyrics are sad but beautiful, and full of emotion, as is the singing of the song by John Popper. Many bands have lost band mates, but I have never heard a better and more honest tribute than that song (the poem on the inside of the album is great too).

Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors by Piers Read
I read this book many years ago, but the story has stuck with me all this time. It is both inspiring and thought-provoking. The reader is inspired by Nando Parrado who will do whatever it takes to escape the Andes to Chile (I still remember that name despite reading this so long ago). We are also inspired by other characters in the book who lend a part to the survival.

But it is thought-provking as a character study as the reader wonders how they would react in that situation. As the group is short on supplies and definately not clothed to handle the temperatures they are facing, everyone reacts differently.
