I was not impressed at all with this movie. To show Gus Grissom as some sort of screw up was almost offensive to me. Did Tom Wolfe even bother to interview Deke Slayton, who was Gus' best friend? Did the director, producer, etc? Had anyone connected with this movie asked the right people and the right questions, then they would have had "The Right Stuff". This movie felt more like an overblown patriotic salute to the Mercury Seven than it did a genuine look at the beginnings of the space program. Instead of this movie, I would highly reccommend Tom Hank's series "From the Earth to the Moon." I'd also like to reccommend Slayton's autobiography… Read more
