I've been a fan of Mary Tyler Moore since first seeing the Mary Tyler Moore show as a young girl. Now as a grown woman I can reflect on what made this show so ground breaking. It seems to me that the current group of so called funny woman have taken 10 steps back in terms of how Women navigate in society. It was a new frontier for Women to be clear about wanting it all and having enough Self Assurance to go for it. What made "The Mary Tyler Moore show" special was despite the jabs (especially at Ted Baxter's expense), these people really cared about each other. This is a collection of stunning songs by an Authentic American Singer/Songwriter. Her partner in crime adds colour, texture and beautiful harmonies along with his amazing guitar playing. Gillian is a wonderul story teller. I highly recommend this recording.
This is one of my favorite fims. Barbara Streisand and Ryan O'Neal have obvious chemistry in this Screwball Romantic Comedy about a girl who sees boy, wants boy and will stop at nothing to get boy. It includes a very talented cast of faces very popular in the 1970s. It is quite stylish for the time but has a very "Marx Brothers" sensibility, including mixed up, stolen luggage with jewels, an amazing chase scene down the hills of San Francisco as well as a party scene with clever gun slinging choreography.
