The author explains the the reason for things as well as helps to define exercises that will help you become a better illustrator. The content is deep enough without going so deep into the subject that you skip it to get to the good parts or forget what you were doing.
I also liked the little jems of experience, laced throughout the book, as the author explains some aspect of drawing.
