Dallas: The Complete Fourteenth Season DVD ~ Patrick Duffy

This final season of the original "Dallas" finds the series in a no-win situation on most counts: The only original remaining cast members have turned "Dallas" into the J.R./Bobby/Cliff hour and despite the relative newcomers, most of the situations are re-hashed from the glory days long past.

Continuing from Season 13, J.R. is still committed to the sanitarium thanks to James, who has plans to seize control of Ewing Oil. There are a few highlights here in the form of humpy Mitch Pileggi (who showed up on the 2012 reboot) as well as a touching scene where J.R. gifts his fellow patients with goodbye presents.

Although the vintage commercials have appeared previously, this disc contains a great extensive interview with Linda Kaye Henning (Betty-Jo) who is so eloquent and natural on-screen it's like she's sitting in your own living room giving you a history of the show. Also of note is the interview with Bea Benaderet's son Jack Bannon who gives insight into his mother and his own time on the show. I just wish Pat Woodell and Jeannine Riley had appeared to share their memories.

Best of all is the behind-the-scenes footage they shot for Season 3's opening titles, including the water tower scene (although I wish it was longer and there had been more of it).

I hope this disc… Read more
Laverne & Shirley: The Sixth Season
I honestly thought after Season 5 of "Laverne and Shirley" was released--the last season to be set in Milwaukee--we'd seen the last of this show on DVD. But lo and behold, CBS has seen fit to bless us with the 6th season which chronicles the girls' Lucy Show-esque move to the West Coast affording plenty of opportunity for star-gazing and crazy schemes to break into show biz.

All twenty-two episodes that aired on ABC during the 1980-81 season are here, which introduce two new characters that come with the girls' new digs. Hunky apartment manager/stuntman Sonny (Ed Marinaro) proves to be competition for Carmine as the two often try to out-macho one another; and self-centred, buxom… Read more
