Charlie's Angels: Season 1
Mill Creek has been re-releasing a bunch of out-of-print Sony titles on DVD lately, and since I already own the original pressings of most of these they hold no interest for me. The exception was this debut season of CHARLIE'S ANGELS. I never liked the way Sony presented these in terms of cover art and packaging. Their 2003 release was needlessly bulky with each disc housed in its own plastic snapcase and could have been half the size. Sony also chose to capitalize on the 2000s CHARLIE'S ANGELS films using the font from the movies rather than the original Angels logo. After CBS released the first two (B&W) seasons of "Petticoat Junction" on DVD in 2008-09, it quickly become stalled with fans clamoring for the color years. Your local W*lm*rt should have this available for $20 so avoid paying exorbitant prices elsewhere from third-party sellers if you can. For those who were patient enough to wait, a widespread release is now up for pre-order with April delivery.

In many ways, this is the best season of the show. Despite the fact that two newcomers are aboard as… Read more

The best thing about this set is that while TV Land and DejaView have ran the color episodes throughout the late '90s and 2000s, the first two black-and-white seasons were never part of the syndication package, so unless you bought the Columbia House videos back in the '90s (which only contained 18 episodes from the first two years) you've never seen these!

CBS has remastered them beautifully so the transfers look stunning and there are episode introductions by Linda Kaye Henning and Pat Woodell (Betty-Jo and the original Bobbie-Jo, respectively).

There is a rustic charm about the black-and-white episodes that was lost when the series went to color and devolved into… Read more
