What could have been an interesting parallel world scifi novel was seriously marred by the author's radical communist leanings. Okay, maybe a bit harsh, but... The neanderthal society is a perfect utopian society with no privacy or anonymity as the general punishment, and very little individualistic behavior. Almost like a happy version of "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levinson. Oh and we're supposed to be feel guilty about developing, among other things, nuclear power, gasoline powered cars, large cities, and industrialized agriculture.
