Nellie McKay feels like a cross between Daniel Johnston and Tori Amos. Johnston is a self taught musician based in Austin who is known for writing brilliant songs despite the fact that he is also a little bit of a nut case. McKay succeeds in the same way as Johnston, in that, despite haphazard and manic songwriting skills, she still manages to create some musical gems.

The songs on this CD are infectious beyond belief (David, Sari and Ding Dong especially), but that also means that they sort of wore out their welcome pretty quickly.

Troma should feel ashamed by the horrible quality of this DVD. Argento's films are usually released on Anchor Bay, who does a stellar job with the transfers. This DVD, though, is so full of artifacts in dark scenes that it felt like I was watching a 5 year old video from a rental store. It also didn't feel like it was a FULL letterbox version as parts of the opening credits were cut off on the left and right edges.
One of the interviews was OK, but it was really an interview all about Argento's 'Phantom of the Opera'. The other interviews were extremely cheesy as they weren't even done in person -- it was just Dario holding a microphone answering questions that were coming to him… Read more

I was first exposed to this band through the record 'Jennie Bomb'. While detractors of that record could rightfully complain that the songs sounded too similar to each other, the same cannot be said of this much richer more varied album.

The songs average between 3 and 4 minutes each, which is longer than on Jennie Bomb. With the extra time per track, the band manages to take each song farther allowing more slower quieter moments to help the loud moments stand out more.
