The Leopard Hat: A Daughter's Story by Valerie Steiker
4.0 out of 5 stars Why no photos????, July 3 2004
When I first started reading Valerie Steiker's prose, I had to look up from this book and come up for air. It is verbally concentrated and heavy, like a Bavarian Creme -- if only we had some photos to look at -- after all, Valerie is sitting us down and telling us the story of her life, her mother, her family. We're trying to look at Valerie's family album -- and there's nothing there. It would have been great to see Valerie and her sister standing with their Chi-Chi mother Giselle, at various stages of their lives, and at special holidays.

Miracle on 34th Street (Full Screen) DVD ~ Edmund Gwenn
Absolutely LOVED and identified with this movie!
I was "there" -- on many a Thanksgiving Day, on 6th Avenue watching the Macy*s parade, just a few years after this eternally delightful movie was filmed. And when I was little, everything, especially Santa, was breathtakingly real. No matter that I froze my little tail off standing on 34th Street and 6th Avenue for hours (starting at 7 am, so we could get a good view of the parade!) -- on each and every Thanksgiving Day, my heart was warmed by the floats, the merriment, and....especially, Santa.
So naturally, while watching this movie, I almost felt like I could look into the crowd and!!! I can really relate to this… Read more
Good Cats, Bad Habits: The Complete A To Z Guide F&hellip by Alice Rhea
I feel that although Alice Rhea presents alot of good, common-sense ideas from her long association with cats (hers included) and their owners, she falls short in some parts of this book when it comes to judging the cause or the solution to some of the behaviors mentioned.
Her "if-all-else-fails" attitude of locking a cat inside a carrier for the night (and placing the carrier in another room) is, in my opinion, downright abusive, CRUEL, and traumatic for the cat. Even if the carrier were big enough for a litterbox, and at least a dish of water (which kitty could tip over in his frantic efforts to get out), it would still be cruel. When getting out of bed in the middle of… Read more
