In My Own Words:
As a music editor/writer, I covered the southern circuit for Blueswax (www.blueswax.com) and Gritz magazine (www.gritz.net), and also taught writing at two community colleges in NJ, and one in NE Alabama. Timing Is Everything ~ Deanna Bogart
Timing Is Everything ~ Deanna Bogart
You wouldn't believe such a little woman could be so big with talent--but that's just the beginning. She's a sexy dark-timbred vocalist, scorching saxophone player, and lightning-quick rampaging boogie-woogie pianist too, and her star is shining bright. She wrote all this material and arranged it too, so it's as rock-solid and wickedly tasty as anything to be desired.
In concert, she absolutely explodes with radiant musical energy that can be felt all the way to the balcony seats. You absolutely owe yourself the opportunity to partake of this woman's abilities to turn your ear inside-out with her magic! Her Timing is EVERYTHING good!
The Matrix Revolutions (Widescreen) (2 Discs) DVD ~ Keanu Reeves
Was it overblown? Sure. Great effects? Got 'em. Mushy in some places, tough in others? That's why everyone is fighting over their opinion on the film. But for what I saw, I was satisfied--and if I could tweak the rating, I'd give it a 3.5.

Yes, the ending is filled with a silly frothiness of symbolism (what happens to Neo, the machine world, and the potential freedom of Zion--is humanity safe at last?).
I would rather credit the work of Hugo Weaving, who really gave his best here during the huge fight… Read more
Gone Wanderin ~ Jackie Greene
Gone Wanderin ~ Jackie Greene
5.0 out of 5 stars Got himself a future, Mar 23 2004
Blowing a tasty blues harmonica and really filling up the space in between with fluid and rich chords, Jackie Greene plays his way into your hearts and ears. Confidence-that's one thing he has; his voice carries it strongly with the homespun lyrics that pour out in a sensitive tenor. Maybe another Jackson Browne? The urge to catalogue him is immediate-but not as easy as I wanted. The harmonica was vintage Dylan-and maybe Neil Young. The same for the guitar: on an acoustic, he looks as though he had been on stage for years, especially with the furious rhythm he sets on several songs. Who did something like that...Buddy Holly? Maybe. Where did he get that maturity? Something like… Read more
