Great article in the May 9, 2004 NYT magazine about Michael Connelly. Glad he is finally getting his due. His attention to the details about the police officers is what makes the difference. The story is not so much about the crime and it being solved, but Harry Bosch, and how his job changes him and brings out more color on who he is and what makes him tick. Congratulations to MC, he is a great story teller!
Very moving music. That reminds you of a very powerful movie. As the movie reminds you of the sacrifice that was made for us, the music reminds you too. I keep connecting a line from Saving Private Ryan with the movie - "earn it." I feel that we need to earn the sacrifice that was willingly made on our behalf. As the music helps us remain conscious of that sacrifice, it helps us to work each day to "earn it."
Hugh de Luc may be the first (and only?) French hero. Then again, this is a work of fiction. In all seriousness, this is a fabulous David and Goliath story. The story has rich characters and is wonderfully written. A close second to Crichton's "Timeline."
