The first part of the book is fascinating. It is as if the reader is visiting the Amazon. What I find interesting is that studying tribes from other parts of the world, there are so many similarities in their social structure. This book should be mandatory reading for every oil executive judging from the huge damage oil exploration has done in parts of the Amazon, which is also outlined in some of John Perkins' other books. I do not quite believe the transalation from the Shuar language into English. Did the Shuar people said what John Perkins wanted them to say?
