My main love and interest has always been cooking, and almost always go to bed with a new cook book or cooking magazine (Fine Cooking) etc. The combination of ingredients, and the presentation as well as the nutritional value is very important to me. After a cancer scare, my husband is now on a very low fat diet, and it is a challenge to produce the same high quality meals as we have become used to. He is also a fine cook. I entertain frequently and am known as a good cook, and my ambition is to write a book taking the mystery out of preparing good and simple meals.

This book could probably be termed a "Historical Cook Book" rather than a novel It is a lovely read, made all the more so as I had visited China. The descriptions of the origins of many of the traditional dishes were wonderful - one could almost smell them and savour the taste. The novel aspect was a little lightweight, but acceptable by the almost sensual and colorful depictions of the recipes.
A very nice book and a great gift for a food lover.

Loving the works of Jane Austin, and looking for a summer read, I decided to purchase "My Jane Austen Summer" - a mistake - probably one of the worst books I have ever read. The main charactor is totally self absorbed and the book takes a tortureous route and has a huge cast of charactors to get nowhere. I often felt that the author was trying to write another Briget Jones Diary.

This book is a must have for any artist, art student or art lover. If it were not so big and heavy, I would keep it beside my bed for nightly reference. It is written in easily comprehensible language, has amazing illustrations and examples. I own it, and have just bought one for my daughter and grandaughter, both of whom are involved in the Visual arts, one as a teacher, and one as a student.
