Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew by Ellen Notbohm

This was the first book I bought after my son (age 32 months) was diagnosed with autism just over one month ago. To be honest, I was a mess - I felt so helpless, so hopeless. I started to feel better after the few first pages - THIS was what I need to know, THIS was what I had needed to hear! It really helped me gain back my perspective after feeling like my whole world had been blown apart by this diagnosis. It was still a difficult adjustment but we're all doing really well and are excited for the future.
The Kid-Friendly ADHD & Autism Cookbook, Updated a&hellip by Pamela Compart
I bought a couple of books to use as starting points after we decided to commit to a gluten-free/casein-free diet for our son (recently diagnosed with autism) after giving it a 2 week trial run (mainly by adding a few GFCF convenience foods, buying a few mixes, and switching to almond milk) and seeing some great improvements. This book has been an amazing help, from meticulously explaining the science behind gluten/casein elimination diets to every kind of recipe you could possibly imagine!

This one was definitely my favourite - not only are the recipes fantastic (and not super "fussy"), but the science/research portion of the book is EXCEPTIONALLY informative. Before this book I knew that going GFCF was working for my son, but after reading it know I know WHY - in plain English! That's a huge motivator for sticking with it.
