I kind of bought this CD on a whim, however I am sooooooo glad I did!! This CD definitely passes the sophmore slump. With the unitentional kick off single, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", she keeps with the sound and style that made her last CD a hit (I admit I like more of the songs on this CD than the last one). Some highlight tracks I recommend are "Gunpowder & Lead", "Dry Town', "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", "Desperation", "Down", "Guilty in Here", and "Getting Ready"!
On the whole it is a great record!!! Plus half the tracks make for an amazing break-up album (along the same in your face attitude of the track "Kerosene")
Marit Larsen's debut CD is just amazing. After the break up of M2M, Marion was given a contract with Atlantic, while Marit was left with no contract. She went off ans wrote her own music her own way, and it truly shows. Some of the highlights of the album incled the first single in Norway "Don't Save Me", which fully illustrates her poppy-folk music style which is freshing to listen to in this musical landscape. Her second single "Under The Surface" is a bittersweet ballad about questioning love. The proposed third single "Only A Fool" is my personal favorite song. It has an almost country-pop tinge to it, and even includes a slide whistle, may sound corny, but it works well.
