In My Own Words:
I'm interested in just about everything and am a life-long learner. I love to take what I've learned in books and try it out in the real world which makes for some really interesting experiences and careers!!! I try to live outside the box as much as I can--even if it scares me--and I like to exercise both sides of my brain :) I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up and I wonder… Read moreI'm interested in just about everything and am a life-long learner. I love to take what I've learned in books and try it out in the real world which makes for some really interesting experiences and careers!!! I try to live outside the box as much as I can--even if it scares me--and I like to exercise both sides of my brain :) I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up and I wonder if I'll ever have enough time to fit in everything that I'd like to try. Recently I've started writing a children's book. It's so liberating to let the kid in me OUT and to just let that creativity have the reins!!! ha ha (hope it doesn't steer us into a ditch!) This book met my expectations. I read many reviews of soup books before I chose this one. I wanted a book of interesting soups that I could make on a daily/weekly basis using ingredients that I would most likely already have on hand. I'm very pleased with this book. It starts off covering making stock and then it follows with chapters by topic. For instance Tomato Teasers, Say Cheese Please, A Chicken in Every Pot, Under the Sea, Championship Chowders, Old World Flavours, and so on. I've found this arrangement makes it easier for me to choose a recipe based on what I have on hand. I made the Carribean Chicken Soup with Coconut and just loved it. I am no chef (I… Read more

A must have for the Spinners' Library I am very pleased with this book. The contents inside are just as lovely and interesting as the cover. After a few pages to review spinning wheel orifices and technique we dive right in with a literal feast of colourful yarns. The photos are close-up and fully show the yarns. The techniques start with working with single ply and then double and multi plied yarns. They're fully demonstrated with photos and drawings and repeated in the enclosed DVD (highly recommended). The techniques covered are wrapping (autowrap, racing stripe, etc), core spinning (tail spinning, bumps), thick and thin spinning, beehives,… Read more

In the first two minutes flipping through this book I got the perfect answer to how to warm my honey up slowly without using too much heat (how to build a warming box). This book would be enjoyed by a beginner, giving them information they can use but I think the perfect reader for this book is a beekeeper with a couple years experience or one who is preparing to expand their business. There are many large colour photos throughout which add to the written descriptions. The primary focus of the book is giving pointers on how to preserve the flavour and quality of the honey right up to point of sale. The secondary focus is on how to produce artisan honey -… Read more
