Well to the reviewer of this film that said he wanted the DVD of it, I can only say I hope yours is better than the one we got! All four discs in the new factory sealed copy we received have some major problems, they'll play fine for a bit and then all sorts of lines, fuzziness and sometimes even pauses occur and are most distracting.
As to the film itself, we loved it! It is an interesting form of docudrama and we learned much watching it, not just about Verdi, but the changing world he lived in and his part in it. The sets are gorgeous and long as this version is, it didn't drag for us, we couldn't wait to get to the next installment to see what happened next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music to die for!, Nov. 12 2001
I love Vivaldi's music and was really looking forward to my first Vivaldi opera. Orlando Furioso did NOT disappoint!
Let's face the fact that the story is really pure hokum, but then it is opera and who cares? The music absolutely knocked me out and the virtuoso performances by all involved is something you must see to believe.
After a month of sad times after 9/11, I just had to have something to take me away from this world, and this DVD did the trick! If you can watch this one and still be melancholy, I don't know what else to recommend. Buy it, enjoy it again and again as we have!
Mozart;Wolfgang Amadeus Cosi F [Import] DVD ~ Cecilia Bartoli
5.0 out of 5 stars A joyous evening!, Nov. 12 2001
DVD was made for opera and none more so than this gem. With any Mozart opera it is important that an ensemble sings together rather like a rich tapestry, and so the delight of this production was how wonderfully these voices entertwined. The production was imaginative, and the intimacy of this small Zurich opera house also made this seem like a more personal event. Cecilia has never been better! And that is saying something!
