The artwork is amazing, though dark in nature. The story is clever, enjoyable to read to my children...yet, my son is the sensative type and the ending made him sad. I am glad that I didn't read it to him when he was really young. (He is 7 now)
A great book to read near Halloween.
I have seen my son going through this book on his own, studying the detailed pictures...

I made the swiss cheese in this book. It did not taste anything like swiss cheese. However, my kids liked it and ate it on crackers. I made another kind, but can't recall which one...
I do remember no one liked it, though. And it didn't taste like cheese. If you want REAL cheese flavor, I don't think that you will find it among these recipes, sorry.

I loved this book! Maybe it's because my mother was crazy, too...She was married and divorced 4 times. Did you know that dog poop turns white if no one cleans it up for a very long time? I DO. Because no one in my family saw it a THEIR responsibility to clean up.
