'This is the movie that sank United Artists'. 'This is the movie that annihilated the Western'. 'This should serve as a warning to any director prone to self-indulgence or producer flipping carte blanche to the film-making wind'.
'Heaven's Gate' is the sorest, massivest victim of reputation in movie history. 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' has it as a reference point to unfairly breathe a sigh of relief at. It has historically been more of a victim than the victims portrayed within its vast expanse of celluloid masterpiece. Lambasted, pulled, cut, edited and commercially unrewarding, one thing it seems to have escaped is ridicule. There is a good reason for that but it will take seeing it to… Read more

There is a fear to be had in this kind of work. Because it's not only delving into such a monumental piece of motion picture history but purporting to shed new 'light' on that movie's making, 'Nosferatu' purists are likely to avoid it on the grounds that it may de-mystify their beloved pic. Given the added features on the Special Edition DVD of that 1922 classic, it's easy to see that 'Nosferatu' is not just a movie anymore but a gateway into that cosy, misty, first impression of movie Transylvania our species ever got to see. How could anyone do such a heinous thing as cut through that sense of eerie escapism?

Those who slam this work fail to take into account that which has gone before and, consequently, that which is currently transpiring through which this seasoned band must take themselves.

Indeed, alot of this is 'going thru the motions'; you could be forgiven for thinking MR BIG consulted these guys on which direction to take next. They didn't, though. There is a great deal of 'jammingness' evident on this release but that needn't make it of a worth worthy of crapulence.

Look, they've survived thus far. This is a once great band still great in vision and only good in sound. You've got alot to be thankful for in them for all the blessings thus far, don't pee on this just because… Read more
