The Journey Prize Stories 17: From The Best Of Can&hellip by Various
Journey Prize Anthology 17 - judged by James Grainger and Nancy Lee - is overall one of the most consistent and full offerings in this annual line of best Canadian short stories. This edition begins terribly with "Anthropologies" by Richard Simas (GRAIN), a disjointed, aimless story with unsympathetic characters and ugly dialogue. Don't let this story turn you away, the next one more than makes up for it. "Brighter Thread" by McKinley Hellenes (KISS MACHINE) is short and beautiful, a poignant story about a poor, modern, urban couple dancing around commitment who discover they are pregnant.
