Get Born ~ Jet
Get Born ~ Jet
When I've listened to this CD I wonder why I'm not listening to Oasis or ANY other band instead. There's nothing on it that isn't generic and predictable, like a cartoon of 50's rock. It has energy, yes, but so do many much better bands that also have depth and soul. Try Stellastarr* for instance, if you want music that not only gets you going, but has some staying power and EDGE. This is ridiculous. I just want to know who Jet's publicists are. Whoever they are, they are awesome.

Stellastar* is in every way the best band so far to come out of the NY scene. They have everything, are sharp, together, and write catchy, energetic songs that are various and compelling. Every time I listen to this CD, and it's A LOT, I end up dancing around the house and jumping up and down. So they sound like the Pixies and Talking Heads? Only two of the best bands ever, who just happen to be having a resurgence about now. And Stellastarr* are great in person. This is the next big, big band, and they deserve everything they get.

They hardly explore Iceland's unique topography and instead turn it into a generic rugged Anywhere. Notice that in almost every photo there's some sign of habitation: a building, an animal,a person in a boat, etc. The thing that distinguishes Iceland is that there's NO ONE there. You can drive for hours, as I have along the coast on a road that's simply a leveling of the gravel, without seeing another car, building or even a road sign. It's creepy and exhilerating. It's the ideal place to be alone. The landscape is so unusual it reminds you of nothing… Read more
