In My Own Words:
I am an avid fan of family movies with a romantic story line and musicals. I have been collecting Hallmark movies such as The Love Letter and Follow the Stars Home which are two of my favourite movies. I also enjoy the A & E/BBC productions such as Laura Doone, Pride and Prejudice, Wives and Daughters, Emma, etc.

Life of Pi / L'histoire de Pi (Bilingual) [Blu-ray&hellip Blu-ray ~ Suraj Sharma

I think this is an excellent and gripping film and worthwhile seeing for older children, teenagers and adults. Most of all, it is about a young Hindu boy's spiritual journey, and for me the main theme is how he grew to give complete surrender to God for control of his present and future. There is a wonderful balance of humour with the tragedy and suspense in the film. The joke about his name is slightly vulgar, but funny all the same, and so typical of some little boys. I totally understand some people's concerns about the different religions mentioned, and there is a slight leaning toward the idea that all religions are equal. However, as his father says in the movie--you have to choose… Read more

What a Girl Wants (Widescreen) DVD ~ Amanda Bynes
What a Girl Wants is a delightful love story for the true/hopeless romantic. I really enjoyed this film about love lost and rebuilding broken relationships. I still don't know how I missed this one in the theatre! The acting is really superb, especially by Colin Firth who is outstanding, and he and Kelly Preston have such excellent chemistry. The story has such a good balance of humour and touching moments, and it is very enjoyable with a good message. It also ties up all the loose ends nicely and leaves you with a happy feeling. It sort of reminds me of the Parent Trap a bit as well as Cinderella or the Princess Diaries. The scenes from Britain and Morocco are very nice and add to the… Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Thought Provoking Film, Sep 24 2011
This thought provoking movie is certainly worth seeing. It's not without its flaws but the positives outweigh the negatives. The acting by Zac Efron is really superb and he carries the movie. The first time I saw it I was a little confused with some of the details in the storyline, especially when he keeps talking to dead people, but the second time I saw it a lot of things made more sense. I think you have to be in the right mood to see it and also there are a lot of details that you notice more during the second viewing. I also felt at first that they were playing on Zac Efron's stunning good looks a little too much with their close up camera shots etc., not that I'm exactly complaining,… Read more
