Danzig inspired metal, April 24 2012

Death Wolf borrows heavily from Danzig, Mistfits and Samhain era and filters it through a metallic meat mincer that cuts and stabs its way through to your listening experience. It lacks the blues or the moody inspiration of Danzig's first 4 releases and feels somewhat like your listening to the B-side or demo of one of Danzig's later releases. Still its a pleasant interlude in between Danzig releases just like Johnny Crash or Rhino Bucket was to AC/DC....Johnny who?......

DOOM ROCK AT ITS BEST, April 24 2012

Pale Divine have opted for a more refined and less busy approach this time around that include riffs and memorable songs that hook you in with each repeated listen. This band deserves more world wide attention but doom is underground music, from the heart and soul, that doesn't shoot for the fast thrill of shock value or commercial appeal. I would at least say that Painted Windows has the most accessibility of their catalog and for the most part, my favorite release so far. So yeah I might be crazy to buy this book for the name and the fact it's a very nice edition of some 'really out there' ideas. The edition and quality is superb though I wonder if the paper would have been better on parchment type instead of the smoothness we get in this volume. A small complaint. The paperback for this is crap so I would avoid that at all costs. This is the meals deal! I guess there is a leather bound edition floating around there somewhere which would have been nice but this cloth hardbound book will do nicely in case I need to summon ancient demons to do my bidding.....ha...like I said you can't take this stuff seriously and if you do....well who knows perhaps a demon… Read more
