Carole King has had long absences in the past from recording. Rarely though does any artist hope to make a return to the music scene after an 8-year hiatus with a compilation of recordings as strong and prolific as the material found on "Love Makes The World."
With this album King perfectly and eloquently blends elements of hip-hop, rock, pop and classical with lyrics exploring issues of romantic love, friendship and self-confidence while never veering too far from her intimate, definitive style. Her piano playing as always is confident and beautiful and her vocals and background vocals have never sounded better. King has a unique and subtle way of lifting the human spirit… Read more
Dark Star Safari: Overland from Cairo to Cape Town by Paul Theroux
Having traveled over seven years now to various regions of Africa mainly to work in rural villages with various volunteer organizations and occasionally to sightsee, I have always been a voracious reader of autobiographical works about overland African journeys. "Dark Star Safari" does not disappoint although one must first become accustomed to Theroux's pompous style of relating his experiences.

I sampled "One Heart" in my local music store one day almost by accident. I wasn't expecting a great deal as I have listened to at least a dozen such projects by numerous "diva" artists and have usually been left feeling cold and unimpressed. I could not have been more blown away, literally in a matter of minutes by these heartbreakingly melodic, unapologetically optimistic and mostly mid to uptempo songs. The problem I have always had with other similar artists and projects has been the lack of meaningful and emotionally affecting material.
